Deep in the heart of the beautiful Derrytresk /Coalisland Countryside, with the smell of newly cut turf in the bogs oozing out at us,with the waters from the shore line of magnificent Lough Neagh flowing into our view, This was the scenery that came upon us en route to the Dublin Working Terriers Club dog show and race day Sunday, run by Tom Barry at FeaghBridge Racing Track , Derrytresk, Coalisland. What a cracking show put on by the lads today. The amount of lurchers on show today was like a breath of fresh air. Dog men from all over Ireland made tracks for Kilkenny today and they were not disappointed. The digging competition got under way and soon the sound of spades smashing against soil filled the country air. One lad pulled out of the digging after a few minutes, leaving his mate to go it alone. The boys from up North made good steady pace and were soon digging for fun. Can the organisers of all shows which were and are to be qualifiers for the RED MILLS/IRISH COUNTRYSPORTS & COUNTRY LIFE Five Nations Terrier & Lurcher Championships please get your qualifiers to return their qualifying forms in order that we can post their tickets out to them. All qualifiers must register at Game Fair HQ on Sunday 1st September before 12.00 noon to get their ring numbers. The Terrier Final will start at 5.00pm sharp in the main arena and it is the responsibility of qualifiers to be there on time. The Lurcher Final will follow with a target starting time of 5.30 pm so -

This was the venue for last Saturdays first ever Dog show and Race day run by Barron Tops owner Mr. George Mc Gerrigle . The All Ireland 32 Counties Champions of Champions will be held at the Wicklow Terrier, Lurcher and Whippet Show in conjunction with the North West Terrier and Lurcher Club on the 25th August in Rathnew Co Wicklow. The champion terrier, lurcher and whippet on the day will qualify for the All Ireland 32 Counties Champions of Champions, which will take place after the show.
