  1. have to say not a bad show but was more for terriers than lurchers there was a lurcher in pups that won was in 3 more classes and got prizes if its a pup it stays as a pup lad cant be in a workin class still a pup

  4. The Sporting Whippet Club and Race day at Dunsilly Co Antrim, Sunday 15th September 13. Sunday 15th September 13 was the last Whippet show of 2013 for the Sporting Whippet Club of NI and the first two qualifiers for the Five Nations Whippet Championship. I am so proud to say we now as Whippet people can take our rightful place alongside the great and the good at the first ever “Five Nations Whippet Championship” held under the directorship of Mr Albertj Titterington at the Irish Game Fair at Shanes Castle on Sunday the 29th June 2014 .   9. We are delighted to announce the first FIVE NATIONS WHIPPET QUALIFIERS will take place at the Sporting Whippet Club NI's event at Dunsilly on Sunday 15th September. Full details of start times from the club. Both the Champion on Sunday and the Champion of Champions winner will qualify for the first FIVE NATIONS WHIPPET CHAMPIONSHIP to be staged at the Irish Game Fair at Shanes Castle on Sunday 29th June 2014.   10. As the show season is coming to an end and the hunting season has now begun would there be much of an interest in having a number of lure only days during the winter. Not everyone hunts their dogs and I have spoken to lots of people at the various shows who never get the opportunity to school their dogs on the lure due to not having a lure or they don't have anyone to help them operate the lure and slip the dogs etc etc. There are dogs out there who showed little interest in chasing the lure but after a bit of schooling turned out to be great dogs. Just back home after clearing up the site after the best game and country fair in the ROI and certainly one that demonstrated that our professional team including our event organisers are second to none. A Very Kind Sportsman I was sitting at the ringside in Birr Castle, when Denis Couch from Co Cork, a gentleman who I have got to know over my years at the Dog shows North and South of the border . Denis was carrying too large bags in his hand, and said, Margaret these are for you and your club. Nestleing on the edge of this midland town is Birr Castle, home to Lord and Lady Rosse and their family, and the oldest inhabited Castle in the county. This was the venue for the Irish Game Fair and Country Lifestyle Festival Saturday 31st August and Sunday 1st September 13.   22. We are pleased to announce that the All Ireland Lurcher, Terrier & Whippet Federation (AILTWF) officially formed on Sunday 25th August 2013 at the Rathnew Show in Wicklow. The NILRC would like to take this opportunity to show our appreciation to our friends in the South who have come on board to help promote fairness and success in racing at events in the future.   24. Dessie Mackens Show Saturday 31st August 13 We had a very relaxing day at Dessie Mackens Dog Show at Halls Mills, Gilford on Saturday 31st August 13. The sun shone most of the time, and the craic and banter was good . As the morning progressed into noon, the cars and trailers began to fill the car park . There were Whippets, Terriers, Lurchers , and Strong dogs on show, and the folk on the end of the leads had only one thing in mind, to qualify for the Five Nations at Birr Castle next day Sunday.
