Hi, Been bolt and shooting a few rabbit lately, would you feed a shotgun rabbit to your ferrets? I normally feed them clean killed. Your thoughts regards Roger

Hi, They are scary creatures when purchased new. Once they have been used a few time they do sofen up a bit. I am too chicken to set them without rubber glove on they give a bit of extra grip. Its only the start of the setting that is hard. Once the spring is past a certain point it does sofen. You just have to flex those muscles a bit to start them off. regards Roger.

Hi, I break the sachets down. Then measure to the job. I only use Ficam W for common ants (lasius niger). Bendiocarb is hasty stuff and they risky if not handled with care. I Prefer to use a bottle solution Ie Deltamost SC as you can easily measure it up and is used to kill a broad section of insect pests. I only really use Ficam W in the summer there are so many insecticides to choose from. It best to use it up in one go so you mix a fresh batch everytime if not using daily. Not only this. A client likes to see you doing something for your money. If you mix on site it doesn't look lik

Hi all. When i make a 50yd hemp net i use an old 8kg bucket. I don't really bother measuring it length until it nearly fills the bucket. The first net took well over a year to make as it was not really a priority. If you obsess about how much you have not made you will never finish it. I only make 2 50yds nets a year now because of other projects. Before you know it you will have loads of nets. I started to make shorter nets out of some of my 50yds nets as they are 5Ply and are now reduced to 12yds with salvages and twentys. Any cut down nets replaced with a 50yd 4 ply. Top tip th

Here is my point, You don't need to preserve rabbits they are always going to be there. Full Stop!!!! Your are missing the point about drop boxes as well. They are usually positioned in perimeter fencing where the landowner is trying to stop rabbits getting accress to his land through ingress. Not all landowners control rabbits to such high levels. These fences are usually positioned around plots of housing or woodland strips and so on. If you manage the drop boxes and don't over do it there will always be rabbits for the freezer. If any of my clients saw me letting your rabbits go i w

Hi, He is 13 months and the retreive thing still work in progress. He kinda half and half. I still have some way to go with him.

Hi All, Its been along time coming but the work is starting to pay off. Its been Murphy's fifth session at attempting to catch a rabbit on the lamp. I have to say i have pushed him a little of late. The only thing at has been stopping us has been the frosts. So tonight was the night before the frost started to harden the ground too much, we headed out to some very local ground. Murphy is familiar with these fields and they are big so this fills me with a little more confidence letting him slip here, we are still learning the ropes. Lets just say the first slip was a bit of a no no.

Hi I have had some good results in the snow when at other times you struggle to catch in the area. I have noticed of that that soggy fields have a lot to play in the catch rates. Dog walkers and the general puplic are another factor. If you have a quite area with little distubance then its worth a go. Only down side is they heavy but if can get them out there why not. regards Roger

Hi All, Thanks for the replies. I think that i might have to be a little more adventurious with the MK6s along the hedgelines and will have to try and come up with some tunnels which i will bury. I might try and position one along the gate sides as this is one area that they are getting though. regards Roger.

Hi All, I seem to have this problem from time to time. Gardens and they are a nightmare. You know the ones with rabbit problems where you can only catch a few with cages and you can't use snares because the owner and neighbours have pets and basically there is nothing to ferret so to put it bluntly i is up s**t creek without a paddle. Naturally the owner wants results but is too tight to put up fences and all i can do is use harsh langage because the last cage trapping session dew a complete blank. Time wasted i hate it. So i have a question what are your thoughts on making fa

how much to charge for rabbits
R_Oldroyd replied to chimp's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Evening All If you have 3000 acres it would be hard to put a price per head of rabbit!!!!!!! and i never do.You would have to keep detailed records and so on. I would place a set price for the land after having a good look around. If you are going to do that kind of area that aint far of being a full time job. Thats the way i see it. The fuel/ vehicle bills will be high even if you are local. If you chaps are going to do it for free you wouldn't have the resources to get the the job done to the landowners requirements. Do i need to go on. You might as well be doing and full time jo -
The Law on bodygrip placement
R_Oldroyd replied to ianrob's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
Evening All I have to put me two pence worth in here you can talk about the law as much as you like but if you use a Fenn Mark 6 or a springer and uses it with the chain as it is and a hazel peg as seen in the game conservancy books. Then it can only go into the hole about 9" to a foot, there you go case closed Regards Roger -
Hmmm, I will be sticking with me fenns when i can be arse to use them. Its the time issue that concerns me. I can put more snares out quicker than i can set fenns though the number of visits to site is likey to be less. regards Roger.
