  1. multi catch humane live trap and some peanut butter. Once you got one in there they all pile in. 13 in one trap so far has been my record.

Dead traps seem to make em wary but the live capture ones don't seem to.

I got mine when I thought my tiny ferret gill had escaped, baited it with some fish and left it out all night.

Come the morning I had 7 live rats and a weeny ferret asleep in my jacket pocket i had hung up outside.

Oh now don't get me wrong, I'm not against dead traps, but I catch em easier with the humane one. Then shoot them :D

I ran like the wind th rest of the way home, and to this day don't use lanes or roads ofter dark!

  3. Unlikely i know, but going to collect 12 Welsummer cockerels off the local farmer who can't kill them himself BUT..... I just put 2 sheep in the freezer so don't have much space left :( I would rather not have them alive too long, does anyone near me want a couple?

You can have em necked or alive, up to you hell rather than waste then I'll even pluck them for you but that will need a payment of chocolate ;)

collecting Sunday probably, i'm near Glastonbury.

    let me know :D

  4. The very very best thing I have found for my hands (knuckles split and bleed if I clench my fists) is Uddermint. The stuff they rub on milking cows? Find it at your local agri place. Healed mine up in 4 days ;)

Edited to add... Now i have actually read the previous responses, I see I am not the only one who raids the dairy shed :D

  5. Hey all!

Something I would like to try my hand at as only ever fished carp in lakes before.

My landlord at my new gaff owns land which the river runs through.

With his permission and a rod license am I good to go or do I need anything else?

On that note, can you recommend a good rod etc.

Seems like a good opportunity to me :D

  6. I use dutch rabbits, they aren't the biggest but are great mothers and big enough for the 2 of us. Lovely temperaments too.

i keep mine in 3 meter by 4 meter pens with a hutch to go in when they want to. I don't seperate my does, they get on just fine if they have space. I feed them on ad lib hay, greens and veg and a molasses type mix. Keep em dry with somewhere snug, and let them have room to run about. They'll do you proud.

  7.

I do the caveman diet. grass fed meat, game, fish, eggs, veggies, salad, fruit.

Eat as much as I want of these. No modern grains, but millet, quinoa etc suit me fine.

If it's processed or has more than 3 ingredients I stay away lol!

No counting or weighing of food, no IBS anymore and NO MIGRAINES!!!!! Hurrah.

Caveman diet, renamed the Paleo Diet, to widen the appeal to the more feminine of society. It does make sense to be natural in your approach to food, however cavemen were well known to live to around the age of 35, then die. But the premise if the diet, eat clean, makes sense.

Ere are you saying I ain't feminine?? lol!

As for dying at 35 I'm hoping that as I don't have to outsmart any sabre tooth cats and still have the option of modern medicine (without which I would have never made it to 25 let alone 35 injury prone as I am :D) I reckon I got a few more years of worrying the wildlife yet ;)

  9. I will probably get shot down for this but here goes....

I would like to breed my tiny jill, but can only find huge great big hobs around here.

She is 7 inches long with her tail, but the meanest ratter you ever saw! I would buy/borrow/trade for a nice male but the prices charged for 'micro' ferrets is vile.

I intend to gift any spare kits so really don't want to have to spend a fortune on the hob.

Don't care about colour or markings but a friendly fert is a must.

    Thanks for looking :D

  10. I have 3 people who give me all their cockerels, they know either me, fhe dog or the ferrets will be eating them but they just can't neck them themselves ;D

I also used to run a small group of em without any hens on my sheep fields, they keep the snails down and thereby keep the fluke down.

Trouble is as soon as other people spotted them I got loads more dumped on me, bringing scaley leg and spider mites with them >:(

  11. He was the sweetest man ever, had the privelige of meeting him a few times. Gone back to the land of the living now.

My collection of his books is one of my most treasured possesions, I can't believe I won't be adding to it anymore.

Thank you Sir Terry, your talent got me through many a dark time, you will be truly missed x

  12. When i feed biscuits i feed them in one of those boredom buster balls designed for dogs, they have to roll it around etc to get the food to come out. keeps mine entertained for hours!

i also have pipes and hammocks in the run so they can flounce about in them. I also just let them out for a mooch when I'm there, assuming I don't have chicks on the gound at the time.

Also when it's really hot I give them a big but shallow tub of water to play in, they love it ;)

  13. I had a diabetic lab, I gave him injections for a couple of years then they stopped working and his sugar levels were sky high. Vets said to take him home and spoil him as there was nothing more they could do.....

I changed him onto raw food and his blood sugar stabilised he died 2 years later of an unrelated tumor.

It was through Guzzi the lab I started feeding raw ;)

  14. Then I reckon she's playing you along ;) won't hurt her to go without for a day. I would offer her nothing except plain water not even a biscuit!

Then next day offer her a small breakfast, lunch and tea

If she doesn't eat it take it away immediately and offer nothing else till next meal time :D
