Been doing this and cleft fencing for a while now trying to promote this instead of the stonework, much nicer to make stuff with wood sorting a workshop and doing allsorts, furniture, gates, fencing and sculptures will put up more pics as I go...
Hope this works I made a pair of cleft chestnut gates today started with roundwood timber 8 to 10" diameter cleft it with a froe finished it with a side axe and drawknife
When you look one the website for them they don't seem to breed to a stamp, and I was told years ago when I enquired about them I was told that the main man could trace their history back about 200 yrs
Just spoke to my mate he says the wheaten x he's got is apparently line bred out of wheatens with a bit of bull and the fella who bred them always went for the smooth coated line to follow,they seem very game but the two ive seen have been a bit unhinged not quite right. the pups I saw were quite heavy more of a terriermans dog.
