Interesting thread and unless I've missed it no one has had a bad word to say.
Not a cross I have ever considered, I've never seen one work. I did see what was apparently a deerhound x lab at the boarding kennels which just looked like a 27" lean lab. I remember thinking 'if that could run and wants it, you could go anywhere with it and no one would bat an eyelid'

Can it not just be siphoned out? Reason I ask is I had about 800 litres disappear from my tank not so long back. I'm assuming that if it was nicked whoever took it didn't move that at 1 litre a minute

I didn't get to go off the piers last summer when the mackerel were in. I had a couple of trips out on the boat and kayak though

Not shore fishing but loved boat fishing last Summer. Mackerel everywhere. Drop a line with a couple of feathers on and bang you're in within sort of 10/15 seconds. Good fighting fish.
Knocked on the head, chopped up and used for the Ling and Cod down below ;-)
Did you do much off the coast line in Hartlepool last summer ruby? I had a few good trips off the coast up there

We have 1000 (minus what the fox takes) free range chickens me old man supplys and deliver eggs himself. We have no collection equipment lol just two hours good hard graft every morning the old fashion way, we do OK out of the job.Depends how much you need to live on.. And if you have anything to invest.
10 acres means you can have up to 10000 'free range' chickens but the shed and egg collection machinery cost a fair amount. Can't remember the figures of what you can expect to make as it's been a few years since I looked into it but it wasn't insignificant (for max amount of 16000 birds in one shed on 16 acres
If the pond is a reasonable size already look into expanding it?? I've seen those fishing ponds advertised for sale before with the adverts stating 50 odd k a year turnover. I haven't looked into it anymore than that though so don't know what you could expect to take home at the end
May be worth looking into a bank of solar panels? Not sure if power companies pay heavily for rental of land or how it works but it may also be partially subsidised by the gov?
If your just looking to good life it than 10 acres is plenty
If collecting eggs from 1000 takes 2 hours than collecting for 10000 is going to be unfeasible. I used 10k as that's the max amount for the land he has

In an encounter with a couple of "inspectors" a few years back, one of them dropped their note book........I picked it up after they left, f***ing hell that made for some riveting reading !!
"Cat spotted in window of no.18.....appeared to be meowing in a distressed way.........checked back later, cat was gone!!"
f***ing brilliant !!
Do you still have it? That could've been good plastered all over social media

I used one of the bog standard ones for years as my main air rifle, when they first came out. They are what they are... Cheaply made and lack power, terrible trigger with the crapest little scope ever. I always found the accuracy good and provided you keep the range down to a minimum, I found it very effective.
Being able to put it inside a wax jacket had obvious benefits as well

Probably worthy of a mention

do they still come in large numbers, years back we caught a load when tide was right it fetched them in to the harbour all the locals were at them ,that was at brixham and I had a good few from the shore at a spot called port eynon I think that trip was over 40 year ago,but great days.
Normally there's a limited time through the summer when they're in in large numbers. Think it's the bait fish that get pushed in by the makeral and bait fish and makeral wind up in large numbers close to the shore against piers etc. Can catch them enmasse in some parts of uk, usually around July/august time and stock up the freezers

Bet it would taste the same when slapped between a couple of slices of bread with some brown sauce on it

I saw a nature program recently where a group of otters killed a caemon crocodile, sure it was Brazil or something.

You should count yourself lucky the snows just a pain in the ass.Great pictures as always
We've been properly short changed for snow this year. I hope we get some over here soon
I love it, long walks down country lane at night with no need to switch on a light. Stuff standing out a mile off against the white backdrop, waiting for collection lol

I havent read all the post's as i need to go to work so iam sorry if this has been coverd, but IMO it needs the Turks and Iran to throw caution to the wind and go through Iraq and Syria not stopping untill they reach the Med.
That would work as long as they could find a way of preventing any from escaping.
What to do about the other 100 odd that are back in the uk is another matter!
