Regarding the won't be as weather hardy as a whippet with collie or bedlington in it.....

I had a lovely whippet when I was a lad, he had good skin for a whippet, in fact he only tore his skin once, but that aside he was much hardier regarding weather than one of my current lurchers. She is whippet/bedlington x collie/greyhound/whippet.She is without doubt the most nesh dog I've owned, I do believe not all of the litter were like this though......I just got the short straw!

Your right I shouldn’t have used such a sweeping statement, I was just generalising.

Tbh, the whippets had far less injuries than the lurcher.

Is he a KC whippet? What size is he? I like the idea of a whippet but how do they cope with rain & cold weather & been kennelled out side?.

He’s not kc I believe his lines are mike brown and nimrodel and he’s 22tts.

Obviously there not not going to be as resilient to the harsh weather like beddy or collie x type. As long as he’s doing something the weather doesn’t bother him but they do get a bit fed up if your stood about in it a while, he’s put some cold days in on the fell with me while I’ve been working though. If by kennel you mean on the arm chair by the fire then he copes with that fine, I got him for the missus so she could have a pet that I can still work.

I don’t think I would keep one for my sole running dog for various reasons but I am definitely a convert to the whippets, as long as her indoors likes em we will probably always have one knocking about.

  3. With living in the sticks my house takes a bit of abuse from the weather, so it doesn’t take much for it to knock of the tv, WiFi, and occasionally like last night the electricity. With that it generally means it’s a good time to get out with the dog.

Fired up the generator to keep the freezers going and off out. There wasn’t a great deal about on the spot but we managed a few runs and he didn’t miss many so pleased with his effort, it’s great to watch the little whippet twisting and turning like a contortionist, even more so when I’m used to watching the big dog, who to be honest turns like a bus.

Onwards and upwards, thanks for looking ?

I wouldn’t keep one anywhere else, my own Kelpie crosses need stimulation and they have an overwhelming desire to be at my side. I couldn’t see me having a holiday they would probably commit suicide after day one. They properly need to be out doing something as much as possible and at every single possible opportunity. If they were in the house I’m pretty sure it would be destroyed the first time I left them alone for an hour ? obviously Kelpies and ACD’s are not exactly the same but I imagine the work ethic side of things to be similar.

I’ve never seen a acd but I have kelpies and from what I’ve read on here they seem very similar to the kelpies in the sense they need to be doing something constantly, and are very busy dogs.

Im not 100% keen on the kelpies but you’ve got to give it to them, they are relentless workers. I couldn’t think of a worse dog to keep in the house, if mine aren’t doing something for 5 minutes they will find something to do, wrong or right.

Why pay 2.50 a kilo of minced up meat when you can get butchers scraps for free or next to nothing makes no sense

I wish I could, my missus works in a butchers and I still can’t get any scraps, her boss’s lad goes with it all for his dogs ?

I know loads of Muslims with running/bull type dogs and gamebirds lol. I lived in Cardiff town centre renting for a few yrs before i moved back to the valleys and bought a place.... Used to take my terriers for a walk around bute park, big groups of sand niggers, see the the little patterdales and would get up leave their pray mats and run away from the dogs fighting to climb the trees?backwards cnuts?

One of them once had a panic attack when I got on the bus with my dog as a boy, the bus driver told them to settle down or get off the bus ?
