  1. Is for foxing, at night, with lamp mostly Thanks
  2. No idea really - depends what you have
  3. Which would be best for .223 cz 527 American? What price are they? What is the price difference between both? Is it possible to buy the 12, then take it down to make a predator 8? Thanks
  4. What are you requesting Blaidd du? As stated I'd like to tell them I'm reloading, ask for more ammo allowance and ask for mentor to be removed - would like an open cert too , but guess I should wait before asking. I figure you are from Wales? What policing department? I'm dyfed-powys.
  5. Anyone selling a scope suitable for .223 - decent quality but not too pricey Thanks
  6. This is what I thought - That zero wouldn't shift after cleaning. It's the same ammo that gave me the cloverleaf zero - thought I'd stick to it. It doesn't have a mod - Have checked the barrel and crown, all looks well - although not entirely sure what I'm looking out for, the crown doesn't look blistered nor worn away on either side. I will give it a good clean and start again - should I be using anything different to clean it with? My mentor got it zeroed, then I shot the cloverleaf on the target. This gave me confidence - great. Then all I did was clean it and it's peppering sh
  7. It's the anticipation of the blast more than the recoil I think, I am only a little lad, only 5 ft 4, slight build. Checked the scope and mounts - all tight. I cleaned it with freehand rod (no guide), brass spear jag and hoppes no 9 on patches. This is the only thing I have done since last zero - not its peppered all over the paper - I fired 15 shots and they cover a 4inch area over 100yds, when I zeroed it - 4 shots were cloverleafing and the other was 10mm away. My mentor came and helped me get it zeroed - but the guy has a life and I don't want to hassle him. I haven't changed a
  8. I have checked and checked again. I get it right, then it goes off again. Will check all this again next time I take it out the cabinet - have no confidence in taking it to the range - only to be disappointed with the result. It hasn't a mod - so could be the anticipation of recoil. Will also give it a good clean with rod, brass spear jag and patches. I normally use hoppes no 9 with first few patches and every so often until patches come out clean. Feeling deflated with it at the moment. Thanks
  9. 17hmr for fox is acceptable in Dyfed-Powys as far as I know. Need to get the .223 zeroed before taking it out. Unable to get any decent groups at the moment with it - lost all faith in it.
  10. Mine says 'The 17hmr rifle, sound moderator and ammunition shall be used for shooting vermin and for zeroing on ranges, or land deemed suitable by the chief officer of police for the area where the land is situated and over which the holder has lawful authority to shoot.' and 'The .223 rifle, sound moderator and ammunition shall be used for shooting fox and for zeroing on ranges, or land deemed suitable by the chief officer of police for the area where the land is situated and over which the holder has lawful authority to shoot.' I have 'permission' to a few farmers land and the of
  11. Hi all, just an update on floating my cz452 - job done now after finally getting my hands on a screwdriver which fit properly. Upon separating the stock and metal i could tell that sanding was not going to be the answer. How many of us chop the corner off a door which won't close properly??! At the rear of the barrel there is an adjuster, designed to slide, left to right, vice versa, under the rear of the barrel which then means that you leave the fore end of the barrel free floating. My barrel was touching on the right hand side, so I just put the rifle on its left side, tightened the scr
  12. I'll take it to my local gun shop probably and let him tell me what it is. Thanks for the replies.
  13. Thanks for the replies pals, the screws remain tightly in place at this moment in time, but I know that they will have to budge soon, I don't want to risk staining the wood, nor damaging the heads if the replacement will be expensive, will ask some engineering buddies if they have a snugger fitting screwdriver. Will keep you posted on the progress
  14. These are the two screws which are impossible to undo. Really don't want to force it and risk damaging the heads of the screws Thanks for confirming that I had tried the correct screws
  15. Hi all, had a look at the underside of the gun today - there are 3 screws, all into the metal that attaches the trigger guard to the stock. The screw right infront of the trigger came undone easy, but I can't budge the other two - they are stuck tight and I don't want to damage the heads on them.
  16. Was pretty accurate until it either got dirty or the ammo change caused it. Then I noticed the barrel when cleaning it - would it have been free floating when new? its the American version? If I undo those screws it may sort it, or if not is it safe to undo the screws the whole way and separate the stock/action/barrel? I don't want screws and springs and bits n bobs flying everywhere lol
  17. I have a cz 527 in .223 - it is screw cut, was cut by previous owner. How do I go about finding out what thread cut it is? Thanks
  18. How much should I ask for the expanding ammo be put up to? Currently its to buy 40 and hold 100 - it was so low as I was told because of the price I would not need to buy lots at once. Is it acceptable to ask for 450 and explain that this would enable me to have different weights and different types e.g 100 hollow point 55gr, 100 ballistic tip 40gr, 100 ballistic 55gr (for example) and enable me to hold a selection of 'live' whole bullets. Thanks for the advice guys
  19. Any suggestions for making up deadly combinations for my cz 527 .223. At the moment I'm shooting 55gr FMJs into paper pretty successfully. If I just changed the heads for expanding would my current recipe work as well (the same) if i stuck to 55gr expanding? At the moment they are 25.3 of Reloader 15 with PMC primers in Remington cases
  20. ok, seen these, was having visions of various bits of the action flying across the kitchen floor. Should I undo all 3, then when I tighten them back up try to make sure to leave the barrel floating
  21. yes, kept putting patches through until they came out clean. will check the screw tomorrow - thanks which screw exactly should I look at?
  22. Doesn't seem loose, but how do I tell? Was fine for the first 25-30 shots?
