For the last several months I have been writing my book on Minkenry. I just did an inventory on my book, and so far I've written 76 pages. Wow, that's a lot! But I still have plenty to write! I hope you guys enjoy the finished product when I am finally done! :-)

Yeah sorry, I did and absolutely HORRIBLE job with that video! Yes the mink started out with a hold on the muskrat's nose. I've seen 3 different mink do that before. However, most mink quickly switch to a hold on the back of the neck as soon as possible, so they can actually kill the muskrat. This was the first prey this young mink had ever seen, and she didn't quite know what to do, so she just dragged the muskrat around by the nose for a bit, and then near the end of the video, she switched to driving a deep hold to the back of the neck like she should of done in the first place.

I just finished chapter 5 of my book, and I'm about half way done. Writing this book has been a lot of fun, and A LOT of work! I'm excited to be done, even though I'm thoroughly enjoying the process! As soon as I get done with my book, I'll go back to sharing my hunting stories and other mink adventures. Right now it's just too much effort to do both. I will say that yesterday was quite the exciting little hunt, even though we came home empty handed. Thionba is quite the little rat killer! I just wish I could use her on muskrat too

Thanks every one! Here's a fishing video I made.... Here's a video of my mink playing in the snow... Here's a young mink in training killing a muskrat. Sorry for the horrible camera work. Accidents??? Do you mean getting bitten, or loosing the mink? Accidents still happen, both ways. Except with the loosing mink, most end up finding their way home. I have one mink I've lost for 3 weeks straight, and still got her back! She's like a homing mink! ha ha ha

I look forward to one day hunting with a fisher!

That was a very interesting story! Badgers are pretty cool animals aren't they. I'd like to keep one as a pet some day. I'm glad you've enjoyed learning about Minkenry. If you ever want to get started, let me know and I'll help you get a mink

Here's my buddy Alex with his new mink. This is the first mink he's ever tamed, and he's pretty excited about it. He's had this big boy for about a month, and this is the first time he's fed him bare handed.

I am proud to present to you, my new harness design. This design works much better for wild and difficult to harness mink. It also works much better for large males than the original Idea. I also invented a new harnessing device which is MUCH better than the original wire idea. This tube harnessing device works better for both this new harness, and the original harness. I don't know if this is useful to you guys, but just thought I would share just in case.

Micro ferrets, THAT'S what I meant! So no one knows how much they weigh huh? How much does a normal jill weigh then?

I read on here about certain lines of hunting ferrets being bred to be really small. I think you guys had a special name for some of these lines of tiny hunting ferrets, but I can't remember what you guys called them. Anyway, I was just curious how small is small? Any ideas on how much these tiny working ferrets weigh? I just got a mink I'm training for a guy that's really small for a ranch mink. She's only 550 grams, which from what I read is pretty average for a wild female mink, but for a ranch mink it's down right TINY! So how small are you're small hunting ferrets? What do they w

I've never tried to hunt cat on purpose, but I have had a 730 gram female, and just a few days ago a 550 gram female take down full grown feral cats. So would assume a big male could hunt them without a problem. -

We had both a sad disappointment, and an exciting discovery while hunting today. We went muskrat hunting today to our all time favorite spot. We've been anxiously awaiting the chance to go hunting there all year, and now the day finally came! We had almost cleared the area completely out of muskrats last season, so we were saving it until the pelts were prime this season. When we got to the stream we were sadly disappointed to find the water far too shallow for muskrat. We searched the stream in vain, hoping some die hard muskrat had remained somewhere in the shallow water, but of course the -
I thought my mink were pretty intense for killing feral cats, and attacking beaver, but my buddy's mink has them all beat. This last spring I sold a baby mink to my buddy Ray Norton, and he's been training it for hunting. Yesterday he sent me a message saying that his mink Blythe, "Just did either the most aggressive or the dumbest thing; while I was working her." He said his wife's horse made a nose clearing sound, and his mink ran straight to him and "Jumped through the air to fasten herself to his nose. He went through some spectacular moves to dislodge her- when she tore loose, she hi

If we can find a reasonable way to get them across the border, then I can easily get one for you, but I don't know what the process entails when it comes to shipping to Canada. I'll try to figure that out this week, since I'll be shipping a mink to the other side of the U.S. anyway, and I can look into international shipping while I am doing that. If the importation laws are ridiculous, then I can help give you some tips on how to approach a mink farmer without sounding crazy. If we get lucky, I might even be able to find some mink farmer here who knows a guy in Canada, but that would be p

It turns out I am not the one to start minkenry. It was apparently started in the mid 1800's by a man named Mr H. Resseque of Verona, New York. Mr Resseque had two tame female mink whom he would take to fairs and let people handle and pet. The mink were safe with anyone, but definitely preferred Mr Resseque. Mr Resseque made his passion into a business, and he started breeding and selling mink. At one point he had 90 breeding mink (6 males to every female) and he claimed that he couldn't fill the demand for his mink. He called his mink breeding/training "Minkery" which actually makes much mo

8-10 years old is the average, from what I've been told by my pet mink friends. I have personally only kept one for a year or two at the most. I always end up selling my mink after a few months to a few years. This minkenry thing is still new, so the more mink I can gain experience with, the better I understand mink and how to train them. Right now I've got it worked out so that I get paid to train other people's mink, which is fulfilling the same purpose, and giving me the experience I need to really figure mink out in a way I could never do if I only trained two or three mink over a 10

I read on an online forum about a trapper who said he saw a mink chase a squirrel through the trees. I sent him a personal message, and asked him to please share more of the story with me. This is what he wrote..... "Oh yes it's for real ! no video nor pics but I'm a telling you they can and will do it. at first I thought it was a black squirrel "very rare here" then the chase came right over top of me and I'm telling you the squirrel was running and jumping for his life he wanted absolutely nothing to do with the medium sized buck that was in hot pursuit. the canopy was in a mature stand

Minkenry Hunting Stories For Thioⁿbasabe'

No, every mink I've had seems to start homing after just a couple weeks, sometimes less. I had a male that the only way I could take him on a walk was if I carried him a good mile from home, and then put him down. He would then sprint the entire way home. It was quite the exersise for both of us! -
What is "hard" is based on your perception of easy. It's not hard to me, but to others it might seem impossible. I have an article that explains what I do to train a mink. I suddgest you read it, and then you can decide for yourself if you feel it's hard or not. Follow this link, then click on the blue word near my profile picture that says "About". Then skip ahead to the training chapters, or better yet read the whole thing. https://www.(!64.56:886/pages/Minkenry/72678726611
