  1. You've got a couple of choices here - you can either think there's something wrong with you, get it fixed and try to carry on as you have before. Or you can assume that there's a good reson for feeling like you do and try to find out what it is and what you need. You say you're used to being 'succesful' and so is your whole family. Maybe the definition of succes you're used to isn't actually what you want or need? You're Ok with your dogs etc, so start with that - that works for you. Maybe you're feeling like this because what you've been trying to achieve in life isn't right for you, doesn't
  2. What's the matter Ditch? Never been an object of desire?
  3. Well I look at profiles sometimes if someone's posted something interesting or if I think I might, you know, fancy them. I've looked up Ditch Shitter more than once......
  4. I never felt more like emigrating! The next best thing will be hearing what you get up to. Welcome and please post hunting accounts and photos, can't wait to read them.
  5. Well you came home with some rabbits and that's a successful outing in my book. And thanks for posting this, I feel a bit better about what goes on with my dogs (although that really is mostly down to my inexperience )
  6. When I got my first lurcher a friend bought me a very nice knife. It does the job really well but it's pretty anonymous looking. These knives are beautiful. Keep posting pictures lads!
  7. I really HAVE learned a lot, so one thing I know for sure is that if a dog does the job you want it to then a) it doesn't matter what it looks like and it'll be beautiful in your eyes anyway!
  8. She looks in fantastic condition. Lok forward to the day when you post photos of her retrieving a nice fat rabbit
  9. Having studied various hunting forums for some time now I think I've finally got a grasp of to do and what not to do with a lurcher... 1. Get a pup from parents who are proven workers taking 10/10 hares (pre ban of course) and at least 200 rabbits a night. 2. Get a pup which is 3/8ths bull, 5/8th grey, 3/8ths whippet, 4/8ths border collie, 2/8ths beardie, 3/8ths deerhound, 5/8ths saluki, 2/8ths kelpie and anything between 0 and 100% beddlington. Never get anything with poodle in it. 3. It's best to let your pup sleep in your bed. It's also best to let it sleep infront of the fire on a s
  10. My grandad taught me to love and work dogs (collies on dairy cows) and was the light of my life. My dad was a b*****d but he taught me how to rat with a JRT and how to prepare a pheasant. Nowadays it's a rescue dog who has made it plain to me he needs to be worked and the people who are kind enough and passionate enough about the life to guide me and help me to improve him rather than ruin a damn good dog through my ignorance. And like many I could read Ditch Shitter's posts on here and Nightman's on smoochers til the cows come home.
  11. It's not legal but quite often when people take their pet lurchers for a walk along a public footpath an accident or two might happen, much to their surprise and dismay...or so I'm told
  12. There was a thread on this on smoochers not long ago that was more optimistic - several people had dogs who'd had toes removed and recoveredfine. There's probably a lot of variables that influence the outcome but it might work out.

    I LOVE

Congratulations, what a good day you're having! I, on the other hand, have been walking handfuls of rescue lurchers in the rain with you know who....
  14. Peace to you Pup, and to you, DS x
  15. Thought the video was great - nice dogs you've got there.
  16. Thanks marco - never occurred to me she might have beardie in there! People often think she's a Hancock, but no tattoos. Bad luck for your cousin, what a disaster.
  17. HE Yea he is very BIG, stands at 25'' Oh yeah, sorry - just had a proper look at the third photo! Deer/grey/collie is one of my favourite crosses
  18. She's very fine looking! Is she as big as she looks in the photos?
  19. I have a healthy respect for them, having been raised on a dairy farm and seen an experienced cow man put in hospital by a cow who felt her calf was being threatened. I only cross fields with them in if there's no other option. Glad you got home in one piece
  20. No mate i didn't. Catch up. There's someone else who's registered on here with the same name as me except she's got an exclamation mark after her name. So I didn't comment on your dogs. And anyway get out of the f*****g playground, there's mothing wrong with my dogs :realmad:
  21. She's a rescue so I don't know. Some people have suggested first cross collie/grey but she seems too tall (near 25"tts) and too narrow to me? Be very interested to hear what other people think?
  22. Sorry lads, not pink Scallywag! here just boring old me. My dogs have been on lead with injuries for ages but are just beginning to look the business again. Here's a couple of photos taken at the beach last weekend.....
