Pups And Youngens For Next Season
Barralad replied to bornhunterharvey's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
That's a nice looking dog barralad! I would have bet money it had saluki blood in it though?... Funnily enough your not the first to say that!!! I did see the pups with the Dam when I picked him & also the Whippet Sire. The breeder owned both & it was a repeat mating. I have had a suspicion that the "Greyhound Lurcher / 1/8 Bedlington" Dam, has some Saluki in her history somewhere? I think I may have to quiz the lass who bred him a little more. -
Pups And Youngens For Next Season

nice pup mate, mine is 10 months and very slow to mature too so know how easy it is for patience to be tested ...... Makes me sick seeing young dogs on here catching/retrieving perfectly etc that all seems a lifetime away for my daft mutt Aye...But it will all be worth it when when you have a steady dog that has good constitution. Any pics/info of said daft mutt? -

Whippet X Greyhound Lurcher (1/8 Bedlington) Nearly 9 Months on this Nov.13 photo. 24"TTS Currently. Slow to mature so continuing training until next winter. Hard to be patient at times, but gonna wait until he`s fully matured & I`m confident. -
Did Anyone Get A Pup That Wasnt Looked After Properly?
Barralad replied to lDannyGl's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
I did almost identically the same thing circa 1983/4. Took a Russell dog from an allotment behind mine where the owner kept it to keep his pigeon loft rat free. Poor little fella was left for days at a time, as were the birds, whilst the piss-can owner spent his giro on ale. I took the dog, euthanised squabs in the nest who the parent birds could not feed due to not getting fed themselves, fed & watered all the remaining birds. The guy tried to get the dog backthrough a third party, but would not approach me direct cause he thought I might have given him a slap. He`s right, I woul -
Just another wannabe gangsta criminal toe-rag less. The worlds a better place without this sort of person anyway. Give the Marksman a bonus, some more ammo and let him get rid of some more of the low-life crims IMO.

Our black bitch`s kennel club name is "Savannagh Black Magic". Although I`d sound like a soft southern puff calling her in the field, so she is "Nelly" to us. Usually smelly Nelly!

I bought my NIKON SPORTER online from the link below. Unbelievable clarity. Rubber coated. For use with or without glasses. Definitely value for money & got good service from these guys too. http://www.carmarthencameras.co.uk/section/648/1/sporter-binoculars

Heart of a LION / Mind of a WIZARD / Work ethic of a HOUND / Phisique of an ATHLETE. Yep! Definitely a LURCHER. Not many Lurchers can be identified with regard to thier respective crosses accurately, unless the line has been monitored by honest & reputable Lurchermen of which there are still many, to be thankful. He looks good, as much as physical conformation can tell you. Your bond and mutual understanding will be much more important. You appear to have a nice dog at an age that will adapt to whatever you want from it if brought on with a little patience. Good luck with him

Gods country yorkshire mate cheers pal.I was born in Lancashire & now live in Cumbria! And I have never moved!! How about that one then!!!No shit fella i was born in yorkshire and still live in yorkshire. Na! The county boundaries changed in the early seventies, so even though I have always lived in the town where I was born, I have lived in two counties.

This is my whippet / grey (1/8 Bedlington) @ 23 weeks. I hope he looks something like "sowhat`s" dog at 9 months. He`s currently 21:5" tts and will hopefully achieve 23" at full growth as that was my requirement. Alfie 23 weeks.pdf

First "proper" Lurcher Pup! Opinions Wanted!
Barralad replied to Sammy Labhound's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
It`s difficult to make an accurate physical assessment of an 11 week old pup, certainly too early to forecast conformity. The pup looks good and you seem to be pretty switched on with regard to training. I tend to think that in a pups early stages, it is more important to establish a bond, that way you quickly recognise what, when & how to train. Each dog is different so it`s hard to make comparisons. Here`s my pup at approx. 11-weeks: I`m at the wrong end of forty something & have recently purchased a lurcher to compliment my 6 year old Stafford bitch that started life -
I don`t intend on giving him any work until winter next year, just training up until that time, so any advise relative to his age would be appreciated along the way. I am currently doing some retrieving with him, small jumps in the fence-line with him will start in the next couple of weeks or so. He is very interested in smells & locations of rabbit & fox and can recognise them instantly, so all is well up to now. He is getting plenty of socialisation and is getting taken to various types of locations, open, wooded, wet, dry, sheltered, windy etc. so should be getting used t

This is my 1st Lurcher, Whippet X Greyhound Lurcher (1/8 Bedlington). He`s 23 weeks & as far as I can tell, seems quite promising up to now. I`m new to the site/forum & have posted my background @ new member section of the forum, so won`t bother repeating myself. I`ve had terriers previously, but this is my first long-nose. Looking forward to working with him in the future and will be asking all you guys for plenty of advice as I go.

Hi everyone @ THL. I have browsed the site once or twice previously whilst looking for a decent forum to share new experiences & hopefully gain some advice from experienced members along the way! I`m at the wrong end of forty something & have recently purchased a lurcher to compliment my 6 year old Stafford bitch that started life as a show dog due to her breeding & one of the kids wanting to show her. After being bored stiff (me & the bitch) I started to spend more time walking over old grounds where "me & my mates" used to go rabbiting & coursing in the days befor
