Same happened to my old dog. Sounds like the same injury. He shattered his wrist they could of taken the leg or fused it. Either way would never run again.

Had him pts, was the hardest choice iv had to make for dog. Cried my eyes out.

Don't blame yourself you can't wrap them in cotton wool.

This wrist was broke and everything else below it I beleave..pretty much smashed up...they could of took the leg off but that didn't sit with me well..

And they said they could of half fixed it up but she would of been in and out the vets for some time..

I dont know if I have done the right or wrong thing..I was just trying to do the best for her..

I feel shit for having her of the lead where I new potentially something would pop up.

She passed in my arms just after 5.

What type of battery do you use to power your lamp ?. I’ve always used the 10amp belt system and a lightforce 170 striker but I’m looking to get a li-Ion battery for this season .. anyone use em ? . Are they any better ?. What size would power the 170 for a few hours lamping.

We use both 22amp and 14amp, both do the same except 22 lasts longer. Both do 2 nights full lamping easy.

Using 170 and 210. Both same power output but different heads

  5. Best dog I had was a bull grey, died on the lamp aged 3 1/2. That dog took everything put in front of him.

Also had a saluki whippet bull grey wasn't the best catch dog on the lamp but would give 100% on anything he managed to catch. Was the best ferreting dog iv had.

Also had a Manchester terrier x whippet she could fill a freezer, would take fur and feather in good numbers. Would bowl a fox but wouldn't take one single.

They was the 3 best dogs iv had the pleasure of owning.

    Rip Rock, scooby and jess

my mates lad paid 2k for a beagle pup we`ll send the paper work to you job -----  turns out its a harrier hound ?

?? a fool and his money are easily parted.

I dont get these people who buy hound types as pets, they are great dogs but you just can't walk them like a normal dog. Let them off the lead they pick up a scent and gone.

I learnt the hard way, bought a bloodhound she's a cracking bitch but you can't let her off in woods or fields. She will find any game in a 10 mile radius.

Obedient bitch until she gets on a scent

Seen enough to see them catching good bags of rabbits on the lamp, bit if ferreting, catch foxes lamp, deer etc even hares.

    Ah wait, one wasn’t a half x you’re right.

She was 5/8 bull 3/8 grey.

Proper slow old thing she was, no stamina, one trick pony.

Apart from that time she spent the day picking up partridges on a prestigious southern shooting estate and then killed a good day time hare end of January on a 200 acre field with no fences, with fair law, in front of a bunch of witnesses. And retrieved it to hand.

Funnily enough the keeper said the was taking the piss ouT of the dog to, right up till she killed it.

Some of the best lamp dogs iv seen and owned have been bull x.  Very good mix capable of many tasks and always give 100%

You must of got the wrong one the mate as hand on heart ours didn’t hence why I ran them for 30yrs,

I used to lamp with bloke years ago who had one it was a brilliant rabbit and hare dog.

Her litter sister was brilliant on bambi but wouldn't touch teeth, mine was the opposite when she was in the mood.

My pal has her now he uses her just for rabbiting she does OK but no world beater.

Think I did she was stunning look at but that was it.

She would rhfd but only when it suited her.

The final nail in the coffin was when she pulled up looking at a sika stag.

    Gutless b@stard

Depend on job I wanted to do with it, just now j got a first x kelpie greyhound an it suits what I do

Never seen a kelpie x in action but they do look useful types. That one of yours looks a cracker suitable for many tasks

Deerhound greyhound always had them until a few years ago and done everything that was asked.

Had one never again, gutless, blow out after a few runs and pick its runs. They might suite some people but for regular lamp work they can't handle it imo.

Stunning looking dogs but they can't compete with bull greys, saluki greys or collie greys even beddy whippets all Trump the deerhound x grey imo.

Come on D, you're smart and not that ignorant to know they foreigners ain't all like that mate. Problem is all tarred with the same imo (I get it towards me here sometimes, what with all the twats coming here and getting smashed, causing an upset). Them smelly cnuts, touching kids can all burn in the streets lynch mob stylee for all I give a damn. But innocent people scared into silence shouldnt be punished.

I sorted that one with a cup of water early on ?

She's 18 and still cringes when she says it infront of me and I clock on ?......

See my self published book on child raising and cigarette burns, how to evade social services attention edition ;)

She isn’t for sale, she’s to go to a decent person who will give her a chance and she will come back to me if she don’t suit. She’s a big lump of a dog, looks like a half x bull grey, but she be suited to rabbiting and the odd other thing, she’s tracked a few bits but she isn’t what I need for here.

    Has she jacked?
