    A new bitch in the kennel, 18 months. I don't know his past. I know the future : earth work.

    This morning we'd had fresh snow, o°c, no damage for dogs. Unfortunately during the afternoon hunt, a car punched one dog on the road. Dog is still alive, it should be back. Lot of hares in this area, too much. Thus, dogs changed. So, despite a lot of runs, We didn't get anyone. It was a very good time.

    I hope to be allowed to hunt this way for the future, more and more are calling for the ban.

    We have a lot of different breeds, specially concerning hounds and large dogs. But we haven't any french terrier breed. Long time ago, they used somme bassets to dig (below venerie from jacques de Fouilloux, How to hunt foxes and badgers with dogs - 1561). Since the XIXth century, french terriermen use some teckel, fox, russell ou jagd. Lines are old nowadays but all were coming from GB or Germany.

    It's a good set, not very large, no deep (3 feet max.), sonorous. But very few stop-end, so hunts aren't so easy. Lot of move with speedy badgers. Each season we catch one or few badgers in this field.

    Night is coming soon, quiet, Man is listening his young dog in earth. One hour later, two badgers will be catch in the middle of the farm land.

    Neil, you like young people involved. His name is Timeo. The day Timeo catch a badger by tail for the first time. He's a singer, hunting songs of course.

    Very unusual, we have been called to rescue two Cavalier King Charles Spaniel in a badger set. First one has been rescued at the beginning of the night. We don't know where is the other one.

    We were on a game fair last week-end. Saturday, we'll be at work with dogs.

    Few days with 30°C or 34°C. But during the week-end, it wasn't so warm. We have to be cautious with dogs (water, shade...). They did the job.

    Usually we start past one year. We start faster with this young bitch. We start on badger at the beginning, at work alone, like an older one. I never trained them, I don't want to put young dogs on fox's cubs. We don't need too hard dogs on badgers. It's my way, some can do otherway.
