American badger (taxidea taxus) is very different than european (meles meles). Can it be hunted with terrier dogs ?

A pot of old grease from badger ! Very useful for massages. You can cook potatoes with this grease too. :whistling:

Bravo ! Journées de l'Association Des Déterreurs 2012. Meeting of team of diggers, organized on burrows of badgers. The aim is to hunt very clever, in the respect of quarry, of dogs, of terrier. If you catch a badger or not isn't important, just the team's work is important in the "venerie sous terre" rules. Each team have a judge. Two hours and they can use three dogs, one after one.

Interesting Jezza ! Hubert Coispel has been champion international of trompe de chasse. He has been champion de France too (in fact champion de France is more appreciated than champion international). He has developped boar hunting with a spear. But, in 2012 Hubert has won another challenge. If somebody find before sunday at midnight, he earns the pot.

Venerie means to hunt with dogs and without gun. What kind of animal for the 400 french venerie ? deer (the great) 40 hunts roe (very subtle) 93 hunts boar (stronger) 45 hunts fox (generally without horses) 59 hunts hare (very very subtle, without horses, good legs are required) 59 hunts rabbit (funny and speedy, without horses) 60 hunts. They are organized with the http://www.venerie.org/ And more than 1.200 hunts for badgers and foxes underground. And a lot of others dogs are used to hunt animals with guns during beaten.

It's possible to do the job without collar.

A small dog is faster than a large one. This is a good thing for shoving an animal too clever. But a strong dog is advantage in combat situations. For me, mental and voice are more important than size.

Border is too expensive in France. According to me, nobody works with borders in terrier. Some are used for boar or deer.

Hello, I'm a french hunter, very involved in hunting organizations here. I'm hunting badgers with dogs, it's absolutely legal in France. I own patterdales, jack russell and a teckel. Sorry, i don't speak english fluently.
