  1. That is absolutely shocking! That poor poor dog. Well done you for helping it, I hope it makes a good recovery.
  2. My pup took himself off on a walk this evening when the two family dogs went out down to the woods. I got home from work and was leading my horses in from the field when I saw my pup running towards me with a bunny in his mouth. He put it down when he saw me and it hopped slowly a couple of strides then he picked it up again and carried it home with me. Once I put my horses away I found him by the house with it, it was still live, he didn't actually bring it to me but he left it when I asked him to and let me dispatch it, which I was happy about as I thought he may want to hang on for dear
  3. Lovely pup, mine is a 1/4 wheaten.
  4. Oh right I'm between Sudbury and Colchester.
  5. Sounds to me he is on the right track to ruining it. I've never read such a catalogue of basic errors. Running rabbits near tracks, electric fences, shining torch over fences into fields!!!!! Forget the seasons nearly ended mate, that don't count for pups. Your on a farm for fucksake, you have the best opportunity. Wait till the young rabbits are 3/4 grown in a month or 2, get the dog a slip lead and get yourself a lamp. Pick rabbits that you'd practically catch, middle of the field type, they will sit out there if you don't harass them. Walk the dog right upto them or as close as possible.

  7. Hi All, hoping I can get some good advice from people here. I have just this week started to take my 9 month old Saluki x out at night. He started to become keen a month a go and chases bunnies out walking. I am very lucky in the fact that I live on a farm so have private land, and the field next to the house gets a fair few rabbits on it. Tuesday and Thursday he came out with me when I gave my horses hay so I took him on the field and shone the torch over the field ( I don't have a lamp yet!) and have slipped him on easy ones which he's chased, but they all went in the tree plantation and
  8. Really hope the sick person that did this gets his punishment and I hope the dog can recover from this, poor thing...
  9. I have plenty of rabbits where I live. Probably coz there aren't any lurcher folk around this way. Hopefully plenty for my pup when he starts his hunting. :-)

  18. Just recently found out that my 8 and 1/2 month pups mum wasn't Collie x beddy x grey but actually Wheaten x grey x wheaten x whippet! The breeder of my pup has only recently found out his bitches actual breeding, but I am not surprised as my pup does look very much like a wheaten, in his coat etc. The dad is pure Saluki. What do people make of Wheaten crosses? Here's a couple of pics, he is 24in tts: He looks Saluki here Looks Wheaten here:
  19. Well I found out a few days ago that my pups breeding is different to what I bought him as. I saw both parents when I bought him, the dad is pure Saluki but I was told that the mum was Collie/beddy/grey and to be honest from the look of her she could have been. Found out differently the other day though, as the breeder only recently found out her true breeding and she is Wheaten x grey x Wheaten x Whippet. Not surprised at all by this as my pup does look like a Wheaten- he's certainly got the coat! Not bothered cos the owner wasn't to know, just felt funny that I thought my pup had a d
  20. Yeah my pups coat is thick with all the added Saluki feathering! Its good for him with the weather we're having now but not good, when it's rainy and he brings tons of mud into the house! Lol
  21. Looks a really nice dog! A nice coat on him too, it looks fairly thick but not rough.
