  1. Hope your lurcher comes good mate. There is more than enough hazards at night for running dogs without unfilled holes. Its total laziness and selfish , ruins future sport and pisses off farmers big style and it should be something you learn to do when your a kid out ferreting.
  2. That boys just after textin me. 800 infront of the hide today!! Be bad if we cant get a couple outa that! 800!! Thats amazing . Good luck
  3. Cheers She is just 16 months .
  4. Scaup !! We don't get any here. We get loads of wigeon but only when it gets cold and lots of mallard but scattered about in small groups. It will be interesting to see what weather we get this winter and see how many woodcock come in . Last winter hardly any and the two hard winters before you were genuinely tripping over them. I am hoping for a hard winter and plenty of woodcock as they would be great for the dog to work. Good luck with the canada's
  5. Cheers Mate Aye she is looking not too bad at the moment. I am waiting to hear back from the local farmer to see if I can shoot his fields for geese and the greylag are coming and going all day I can't wait. I am giving her plenty of training as hope to have her beating for pheasants on a local shoot starting in a few weeks but one day she is brilliant and the next like she is crazy and real puppyish so time will tell. Best Stuart
  6. Hi I beat every week on a local pheasant shoot last year and totally loved it . At no time was I doing it for the money. We got 25 quid per day and full sit down lunch and a brace or two to take home. My black lab is now 16 months and this is her first season in the beating line and I would do it for nothing. They could keep the lunches , money and the beaters day as long as I can work the dog every week. You are definately in the wrong game if your after the money.
  7. I was out this morning doing more training with my young black lab Corbie. It was a cracking morning with greylag moving out in the bay and quite a few mallard going to and from the shore. See attached pics
  8. Thanks Hopefully attached a couple of pics of the dog. She is 14 months and really keen and I am just trying to concentrate her on basic training and manners .
  9. Your boat is well impressive. I haven't been out this week but hoping cold weather that is mean't to be on its way will bring wigeon and pinks. I'll post pics of my dog and the foreshore here once I resize .I am just new to this site and learning the ropes how to upload images.
  10. Hi All I am a new member. I live in Argyll and am currently training my black lab, Corbie who is 14 months for beating and more importantly wildfowling. So any tips on training labs much appreciated. This is my first gundog so finding way with books and dvd,s. She's from working stock in Aberdeenshire so she has the talent and natural ability its just trying to challenge it !! I had lurchers as a kid and did plenty of rabbiting and the odd course, pre ban. I now work in the woods and with so many deer the lurcher ain't practical although still fancy a whippet for rabbiting around the h
