No I don't think they are excessively priced whatsoever, have you purchased one? If not I don't know how you could possibly make comment on how they are made. They are not designed for youngsters they are catapults designed for adults. Each one takes roughly 5 hours to make, I then have my costs of: wood, fuel, abrasives, glues, theraband, leather, band saw blades, sanding belts, sanding drums, wood finishes, ebay/website costs etc. Not made by experienced catty users? I have been making them for a long time, and I also help run the worlds largest slingshot forum in my spare time, hardly somet

I understand what you are saying but due to the way the grain runs it is very unpredictable, it may be fine for a few months but it weakens over time. I now no longer sell catapults with the grain just running one way as I've seen the consequences. Cross laminating grains improves the strength of them significantly.

First Ever Catapult I Made Today

Great job! Have fun -
Any catapult rubber that lasts a year is great rubber! Like Mick says, rubber perishes in sunlight. It will also degrade after usage over time, I wouldn't recommend covering Theraband with tube as this will decrease the speed of it. Rubber is fastest when it's warm, after drawing your catapult you should release it as fast as possible to get maximum speed from it as it quickly cools down after it is drawn. Have a look at Jorg Spraves video for a little more insight into the matter:

I have just noticed you are tying your pouch end with rubber Mr Wilkes, have you ever tried tying it with waxed twine instead? It makes your pouch far lighter, increasing the speed of your bands and making the chances of nasty band slap on the hands far less likely.

Great shooting, nice catty too

Get a good quality rotary cutter with a large blade, I recommend OLFA cutters. You will also need a seal healing craft mat and a metal ruler. If you are using Theraband Gold remember Theraband have recently changed the formula so you might want to adjust your cuts to suit. There's more information on everything over at slingshotforum.com if you need any more help.

Great shooting! Glad you are enjoying the catapult All the best, Jim. -
Using Jörg Sprave's fantastic low forks from his Six Circles design, along with our tried and tested canted handle we have come up with the Six Circles Hybrid. Our canted handle takes away the strain usually put on the shooters wrist when firing a standard flat catapult, eliminating the need for a wrist brace and making shooting heavier bands a pleasure to shoot. The grip has been profiled to to an almost blade like appearance making it extremely easy to replicate your hold of the catapult for every shot fired. Cross laminated with American White Oak & Mahogany for increased

If I was a little nearer and wasn't so busy I would snap your hand off! -
Hi, personally I use double Theraband Gold tapered 20-15mm, I find this is just as fast for the .44 cal lead I use as 25-20mm and it has an easier draw enabling greater accuracy. All the best, Jim.

They look great -
Double Theraband Gold band sets are £5.99 inc free postage. We currently have 2 different kinds of kangaroo leather, one is slightly thinner than the other and has a bit more of a stretchy feel too it. We also sell kangaroo leather pouches at £1.50 each if you like to make your own band sets up. All the best, Jim.

Personally I would fit Theraband Gold, I supply these band sets along with a premium ultra light kangaroo leather pouch, which stops nasty hand slaps. If you are interested PM Me
