Incredibly popular with her constituents and that's all that matters really

Wouldn't Ruth Davidson need to be elected to Westminster first? She's only an MSP isn't she? It'll most likely be Boris or David Davis IMO, Rudd was a sure thing but with her majority shrinking from over 5,000 to just over 300 she isn't in a stable enough position anymore. Can't have your PM losing her seat at the next election!
-
Oh I'm sure she's fine, celebrating increasing her majority by over 10,000 and now commanding one of the largest constituency majorities in the UK must have made her feel better Amazing how popular she is isn't it?

Me niether I want her gone asap and replaced with someone who believes in brexit I think it would be best all round ...like you say whist all our lot have been running round with jelly heads the EU have been getting there shit together. ..I see two possible out comes for brexit now either no deal or a crap deal .?its not over but at this point you can't say its looking great...Mays arrogance may have cost us dear......I'm more deflated and Disillusioned than angry Regardless of who's leader they'll still be tied to the DUP who are in favour of a "soft" Brexit and they'd never leave with no d

If you even get a vote this time, it might be another coronation
-
May will either go in the next week or so or they'll let her stay until Brexit negotiations are done so they can pin the blame on her and have a quick leadership contest to replace her just before the next election in the hopes of carrying the new leader bounce into the GE.

Jesus you're right pal I hadn't even thought of the Stormont situation. What a fecking mess

Make that 30 seats gained by Labour, another historically Conservative seat (Kensington) taken
-
Do you think Corbyn can see this through to another election? You mean as leader? Definitely. The right of the Labour party have been completely crushed, one of the best bits of this election has been seeing them all crawling out of the woodwork to say they were wrong about Corbyn Chukka Umunna who was the next great Blairite hope as a leadership challenger has even said there is no question around his leadership now. There's no appetite for any challenge and even if there was he'd most likely be reelected again with a bigger mandate.
-
May went into this election as supposedly the most popular PM of all time but she gambled and lost a comfortable majority locked in for the next 3 years for a seriously unstable minority government thanks to a cracking campaign by Corbyn and Labour. This idea that she suddenly became incompetent when the election was called is just silly, it's not a coincidence everyone ends up looking incompetent when they campaign against Corbyn
-
Labour threw everything they could at this and still fell well short ...they just didn't measure up mate admit it even against May who didn't even bother trying ....I really can't see any victory in that ...that's the bottom line bud Our proudly socialist manifesto got 40% of the vote, the best result since Blair in 2001, gained over 3,000,000 votes (coming within 2.5% of the Tories) and 29 seats and the Tories have gone from holding a comfortable majority to being in utter chaos scrabbling for votes from the DUP and most likely heading into a leadership contest. If you don't think that'

Remember when everyone on here was absolutely certain Labour were headed for extinction in the next General Election? Good times

Sour grapes PMSL I've been on a high since the exit polls pal

Getting into bed with terrorists is definitely better than offering kids the free university education that was available to their parents
-
I just think the hypocrisy of making a huge deal of Corbyn meeting with some folk from Sinn Fein 30 years ago during the campaign then jumping into bed with a party with strong links to loyalist terrorists to cling onto power is fecking hilarious

DUP "Brothers in Arms" with proscribed terrorist organisation UDA

You're OK with terrorists as long as they're on you're side, it's OK I've known for a while you're a scumbag with no morals

Don't Sinn Fein not take their seats knocking the majority mark down? Still not sure that gives the Gov' a majority on English matters though. Sorry I had a total brain fart earlier forgetting to discount Scottish and Welsh seats when it comes to a majority on English matters, the magic number is 267 so Conservatives will have a slim but comfortable majority of English seats to pass English laws. I guess that's why no one has really been talking about it!

Yeah Sinn Fein and the speaker will knock the threshold down to 322 I think (don't hold me on that I've just got up and haven't checked the numbers) but pretty sure that will still leave them short of votes on devolved matters.
-
I haven't seen it talked about much but the interesting aspect of this parliament is going to be English votes for English laws. The Tories only have a majority of 1 including the DUP and their seats in Scotland so when it comes to passing laws that only effect England they're totally hamstrung.
-
Yep. They'll be doing a confidence and supply deal with the DUP.
