  1. a dog dosent know weather his in a comp or not so its not going to run any better or worse than he normally does, iv travelled all over ireland with my dogs and iv shown them run to any man that wanted to see them and they never let me down so for me i know what my dogs are and what my previous dogs wer im as realistic as any man when it comes to dogs, but as i said previous fairplay to any 1 that trys to run them or enter them as i know they can be a headache to run so again thats why a lot of people are reluctant to enter them, fairplay to louth tiger he prob run 1 off in a day as he has a g
  2. comps are not for every 1 captain as there is a lot of effort to run them right and to get the hares up so i think thats why alot of people dont enter them, as for myself i had 2 very good bitches the last couple year they wer as good as what was in the country and i was asked in to comps and i refused point blank as i didnt want the hassel, as for the lads that try to run them and enter them best of luck to them as they try there best, but its just not every 1s cup of tea.
  3. im keeping out of this 1 lads lol but i will say 1 thing the quality of the bitch being bred to has a lot to do with the pups, here in ireland a lot of lads are guilty of 1 major mistake they will breed of almost anything, there has been dogs up for stud after half a season..... what does that tell you, plus iv seen bitches breed from that simply wasent good enough or tested enough, as regards salukis i could be wrong but i think most of whats here in ireland have the same bloodlines.... i could stand corrected on this
  4. He can do it around hedges ditches walls gates and what ever else it is jim but what about the big sowed land or the middle of a desard :laugh:THE DAY I ASKED EDWARD FOR THE SERVICE OF HIM HE WAS AFTER GETTING ON 3 HARES ONE AFTER THE OTHER BEFORE HE GOT HIM CAUGHT he is no hero by any means nor does edward protray him to be but he is a genuine article he will try his best every time and thats good enough for me, the abuse he gets from edward is unreal iv seen him slipped on 5 and 6 hares in a day and as regards sliping distance well thats normally when edwards spots the hare be it 5 y
  5. my nephews little dog sam, a tough little animal. edward runs the brains out him on all types of ground if he saw a hare on a road he would slip lol dont know how he isnt broke up
  6. best of luck eric with the breeding hope you get toppers

  8. another decent first season bitch that gets really well tested with james twice a week on top hares, have to say fair play to james he is doing a great job with her hopefully she puts in another 3 or 4 good seasons for him

  10. this in my opinion is a decent first season dog, the first thing il be looking at is the time of year the next thing id be looking at is the quality of the hare and then i wud be looking at the ground he was running on which is wet seed which is not easy on the dog, plus every yard is a turn which is what i like, he not a super star but an honest first season dog

  12. very true shadow, in an ideal world this would be great, but that would take everyone to be honest if theirs dogs are quite simply not good enough, English have no problem in admitting this, whereas it's a touchy subject on these shores. But what your saying definitely makes a lot of sense. well you have to give it to them lads theyve got a very proven gene pool between the top hunters and they can go to any dog they want and there mostly all related someway which keeps the good coursing gene in them. now most of them wouldnt suit back here but thats up to the men back here to produce our o
  13. spot on jacko pal its rampant in the dog world
  14. modesty is well and truely gone in ireland all you here now is my stuff is doing this my stuff is doing that what happened to a man going out hunting for the sport and if you have a good dog other men that see it will praise it, but it dosent work that way now its all this hype and self praiseing, my view is self praise is no praise, if the dog is good enough then its abilty should speak volumes in it self
  15. yes captain banjo was a good little bitch i said it when i had her and iv said it to lads since she got killed il give credit to any dog that deserves it weather i own them of not, i ran her mostly bouble for her first season but she was ran compleatly single her second season and she missed notting to be honest, its a pity she got killed because she would be well tested with me, as regards single handed running who can honestly hold there hand up and say that they have run there dogs compleatly single with out any exceptions for 3 or 4 seasons??heard she was a great wee bitch FairPlay she was
  16. fair play nans pat he 5 and ran single all time he a very well tested 1

  18. no captain not breeding as breeding is a strange thing look at the likes of nelly boy price bitch she breed out of 3/4 greyhound 1/4 alsation and she was a good 1 so sumtimes the most unlikely breeding can work out, i mean as in good proven coursing stock that has ran consistant for 3/4 single handed seasons as i said to be fair to alot of the english men they do this all the time they test them to the limits
  19. il start this off and put tiger forward from what i know of him he is a well proven dog.. so come on lads get there up
  20. right lads this is a similar topic to shadow15 topic the only diffrence is this 1 is to see what proven stuff is out there, now my question is how many proven coursing dogs/bitches are here in ireland?? by proven i mean a dog/bitch that has ran 3/4 good seasons single handed and i mean compleatly single handed not the odd double here and there, now again in all fairness alot of the english have done this for years so it can be done even if it is ireland,
  21. your dead right shadow 15 look at the likes of nuttalls foxy bitch ran brilliant for 6 seasons she was a real proven bitch, now to be fair to alot of the english men they dont call a dog good lightly it will have to have a few seasons under there belt first, but the irish are a compleatly diffrent storey, now il be honest iv done it in the past myself called dogs good after a season or so but to be honest i think only the test of time is the true test and on all types of land, the best proven dog iv ever had was an old white bitch i had years ago, i reared her myself and ran her up ontill she
