  3. I really enjoyed the day out with the lads yesterday as I could get stuck in helping out to(setting longnets, purse nets and bolting for the dogs)and they were both really easy giving out as much info as they could to me also letting me handle the ferrets alot as well, and it was a good craic the whole day both real good lads also really nice to see the dogs work to seeing as I've got a young pup aswell. Fingers crossed I can tag along with these lads a few more times and start to learn alot more. Really appreciate all the help you lot have also offered me on here to

  6. As some of you know ive been asking a few questions about getting started in ferrets,i got a call from Blackstaff yesterday saying Tyla had said hed seen some ferrets advertised local to me and do i fancy a days ferreting?? To bloody right i did even after a night out!! We met up near a local permission and quickly made our way there seeing as the rest of sussex was still tucked up at this time on a sunday morning,we got all the kit sorted then got the dogs and ferrets out to make the short walk to where we would start work. We came across a small bury with 6 holes that the dogs had marked

  8. Cheers again lads,so only keep 1 hob then? How much do you feed them(raw & dry) What about worming and fleas especially getting rid of the nasties in there hutch?? Whats the best bedding(with winter in mind) and what do you guys put on the floor in the hutch? Thanks again
  9. Won't the unknown ferrets row if I send kits after the older ones?? How often do you guys/girls feed yours and does it differ for kits- seasoned pros? How often would you work a pair in a week? What about introducing unknown ferrets together at home? Thanks again for taking the time to answer my question
  10. So if I was to get kits what would I need to do to get them ready to work?
  11. Thanks again guys, If I get kits what age would you start working them, how long can a ferret work for(how many years) also how often do you feed them and what(BARF v dry) Thanks again for taking the time to help
  12. Cheers lads, Ok I'm getting the the impression a pair of jills is the way to go but young kits or a pair that's been started? Also does it matter what colour they are as I pressume albinos would be easy to spot(unless snowing)sorry for the blonde question just thought I'd ask while I can get away with it So start without locators or not and what's everyone's opinion on the ones on the Market? Rascal,I'm in billingshurst mate would be great to come out sometime. Thanks for the help fellas, really appreciated.
  13. Oh ok but can you still work jills in season? Is it not worth having both sized nets? A 4ft net will catch anywhere mate, 3ft you'll struggle to cover some holes with. Jills and hobs both come in season and can both play up work wise when their mind is on other things, i've seen a couple of people keep neutered hobs for working through the summer. cheers gnipper, how many nets would you say to start out with?
  14. what a bloody stunt!! where abouts you at mate in the county?(pm if you prefer) keep plugging away and always go back to them a month later to enquire hows it going Matt
