  1. I have spoken to matt regarding this.... Think he uses professional micarta...and not the homemade shite im working with
  2. Just seen this thread. Great looking pups... Rain offered me a pup as a gift when my young bitch cassie had her accident... An offer i really appreciated..... but turned the offer down....as i had to look after the wee dog.... A great guy...and great pups
  3. Not sure if that would work... i think the resin would just crack...The outer edges...where only the resin was....cracked when touched.... I think the material acts as the fibre for bonding and strengthening.... Wont be making another anyway Just something else i can say 'ive tried'....along with the pipe catapult...and spatula catty thats why i said do it before the other coats dried, this would allow it to bond to the material. how does Midnight make his micarta handles? always looks stunning once he's weaved his magic. got to be happy with a first attempt though blue, as long as it
  4. It sets pretty tough But this is a bit on the thin side... I used 20 layers of camo material.... but once it was clamped.... it went to nothing..... At a guess its 8mm thick.... Could do with it being atleast double that.... Couldnt possibly know how strong it is TBH... but should be ok with a set of singles.... if i ever decide to band it
  5. Layers of material.... Place the material in the jig...large 'blob' of resin rubbed in....next layer...etc.... Then clamped underneath a board and left for 24 hours

  7. Horses for courses mate.... A natural can be as difficult as you make it.... or shoot it with the bark on Boardcuts can be shot as soon as theyve been cut...aslong as the 'band edge' is smooth.... Sanding it all over to 'ultimate' smoothness is only for aesthetic purposes Some people like making different things.... I just like making shiit alternatives
  8. I do that too.... But enjoy trying my hand at a few different things....
  9. Had a go at making a micarta catapult....didnt look too difficult Made a small jig from ply.... And instead of using denim...i used some camouflage material. Not too happy with the finish. Was just playing with ideas really.... didnt take much time on this....which shows... But just wanted to see if i could do it... The catty is a little too thin...but easily rectified next time by using more layers of material. Any tips for a better finish next time?
  10. The longnetting section...got to be the most informative section...civilised without the arguments
  11. Despite the claims of 'vitamin suppliment'..... Its useful for clipping nails.... And when doing 'ferret handling' with kids....keeps the ferts still But only used it for the first time at the weekend....and it does seem to keep their attention.
  12. Cheers mate. Was back up there today... Wee man was in the shoal pool fishing tadpoles...

  14. No idea.... But if you mix a couple of oils together..... and bottle it... It will keep for a while. Add an egg and id imagine it would go off
  15. I dont use it personally.... But mine had some over the weekend....and they went mad for it.... Could do anything to them while they licked it off their stomach... Main ingredients are soybean oil and olive oil? I think.... Wouldnt be too difficult to make... Have used olive oil to good effect

  22. Im fairly new to this netting malarkey And after advice/reading the book.... I made a stopnet with the cord able to slip through the endpins... But i just couldnt get on with it If i wanted the footline...to be loose and the headline to be tight...i couldnt get it? Whereas...if i let one side run through the pin.... But tie the other off... I find it much easier to keep the topline tight?
