  2. i remember it was reviewed in ST a few months back, the guy reviewing it was well impressed...he went out and bought one!!! an excellent 410 and at a reasonable price too.
  3. very interesting. i admit i know bollox about wild flowers and plants, thats one of the best things about this forum you can pop in read some stuff and learn a few things aklong the way.

  5. just wondering what cartridges people would advise using, i know a lot is probably down to personal preference and how is shoots through the gun but would be interested in hearing what people would recommend. its a beretta 687, if that influences anyones advice. anyone care to suggest a basic package for decoying, i know equipment overload is easy and there is loads to buy, but what would people recommend in addition to the 10 shell decoys ive been using. any advice warmly welcomed.
  6. south end has the gulleries, bird sanctuary, the north end has a nature reserve and an airfield, plenty of farm land on the island. the farm at south end used to be teeming with rabbits when i was a kid, i would think its pretty much the same, but no doubt the caravan park has changed things on the farm, its been years since ive been down there.
  7. i know the caravan park, i remember them building it. more known for pigs back in them days......fond memories ,,,,,erm not of pigs specifically, but the farm in general
  8. just watched it on the local news,,,
  9. careful the walneyites are a dangerous breed. spent a lot of my childhood on the farm at the southend. its good for bass all around there, if you get a chance hop over to piel you can walk it at low tide its not a bad day over there plus loads of fishermen to give you a few hints.

    WIFES

took my mrs clay busting and she loved it, regular sunday morning outing now, me the wife and the wee lad [all 11 months of him] in his buggy. she has her own 20b now and is keen to get involved on our little rough shoot too, just afraid she'll shoot better than me best thing I did was get her involved, if only in a little way. sharing an interest makes life much easier. as you can see the wee lad is not too impressed by his old folks shooting skills
  12. is this the article? Northern echo
  13. :11: :11: landy i'll have you know its a range rover....lol. it was an old banger that we used on the shoot. then the local hooligans discovered it. now its a smashed in, wheeless range rover. an after that they crashed a few release pens too, and wreck the shed where we keep the grain and stuff. lovely people
  14. i had an afternoon free, so decided i would take myself off down the shoot and bag some pigeons i had visions of posting me with gun and rows of pigeon stretching out before me. so no dog just me and the gun, he aint ready yet so when i take him i spend more time focussed on him than shooting and get next to nowt, hahaha or is that because im rubbish. anyway headed off only to find the rape has yet to be cut so pigeons are a little scarce, three singed ones dont really count. so i come away with one crow [lift = lost in fecking thistles] and one pesky squirrel. caught feeding on one of the

ive seen the odd white one before, sorry not the best of pics. looked just like a dutch but instead of black was wild rabbit brown...
  17. nice type, i like the look of him.

    Digi Slrs

ive a canon D20 it works fine for me, i opted for canon because i had a canon 35mm SLR so the lenses and stuff are compatible. but heard good things about the nilon too.
  20. is that these beagles: some of who wanted to hang out with the big boys: not the greatest of photographs . it was a decent day out, weather wasnt great but at least it wasnt raining.
  21. saw this bunny while walking the dogs near Pilling, looks like somebodies pet dutch has been given its liberty at some time, and influenced the gene pool. im surprised its survived into adulthood with that colouring. hopefully, despite the failings of the photographs [they're not the best] you can see. heard of wild rabbits betraying a domestic influence but ive never actually seen one in bright sunlight, its generally been a "black" rabbit at dusk. .
  22. Shooting Times is an obvious place to look, but this is a good online resource for gundogs: http://www.ukgundogs.org/index.html and ive found this to be a reasonable site for asking advice: http://p211.ezboard.com/bgundogandbirddogforums trialing prospects, depends on how good the bloodline is i guess. but as has been said earlier there are no guarentees with any dog all you can do is try to stack the odds in your favour.

    gun B.A.N

licensing airguns in a similar way to shotguns [rather than a FAC] seems a pretty good idea, there are obviously huge problems and i admit i have no idea how to solve them. but if by licensing them we lose that battle and win the war over banning shooting im all for it. i might be misquoting but somebody once said its not important hopw many battles you lose so long as you win the war.
  24. this is my lab getting some practice in ready for his first season on our little rough shoot: a handsome lad: my mates bitch: here she is jumping too it: drakeshead labs @ myerscough: i admit they put my poor lad to shame
