Just out of interest, what percentage do you think this country has small fields compared to large open expanses like the fens? Atleast 90 percent of the uk is smallish fields. So by that reckoning 90 of the dogs are bred for this type of terrain but unfortunately the 10 percent left have the biggest egos. Fen guys don't want to run tight fields cod they know the odds are stacked in favour of the hare for a change and we can't have that. you will usely find the same people have good dogs and the same people have bad dogs time and time again so that should tell you something,

a good catch rate is what you consider it to be no to days or nights the same no one can really say but on the whole my view is that if you catch half what you chase you doing ok and alot depends on weather area and if game been chased before or lamped to bits as far as injurys some minor some major and some fatal the later is worst it gets acidents come when least expected well said
