  1. you could always get a nice little cocker AND a lurcher. unbeatable bushing team and you could use the cocker for shoot days and the lurcher for everthing else??
  2. a good 1st cross collie greyhound would be your best bet if your going on shoot days, the most obedient cross you could probably ask for so you wont have the embarrassment on shoot days of it screaming off across a field after things it shouldnt be. it will ferret and lamp happily, but mabye in a different style to a sight hound saturated dog, but it will still do a good enough job. when it comes to taking anything that might bite back its luck of the draw. its the heart in the dog not the breeds in it that makes a good fox dog (although it is more likely with anything with terrier in). as lon
  3. drove down a road new mine today an down the strip of grass next to the road maybe 100m long i saw at least 35-40 rabbits. cant get at them though being so close to a main road. this is obviosuly the reason theres so many because everywhere else the rabbits are heavily culled by both gun and dog where they can be shot/ran with the dog.

  15. alright lads, just wondering to myself as ive seen alot of people with bitzas on here, how much effect does having 1/8th of a certain breed have on the overal lurcher? for example if a lurcher had 1/8 collie in would this improve the brains at all or is the collie blood too diluted? i know genetics isnt as exact as this and its much more complicated but has anyone got any experience with dogs having very dilute collie blood yet showing collie intelligence/traits or a similar thing with other breeds? Be Kind hahah ATB JIm
  16. how are you going to pay to feed and house look after the pup along with yourself on £20 a week?
  17. Why would you not want to include bull crosses when they on average excel at that purpose more than any other cross? because i know that they do, just wante dto see what else can do the job. good posts though so far!
  18. alright lads, just been doing a bit of thinking, nothing serious and was wondering: preban, what in your opinions was the best cross for taking regular foxes NOT INCLUDING BULL Xs! i no theres alot of support for the bull cross but what other crosses were good at the job and able to do alot of it? ATB Jim
  19. cracking cross mate, hard to beat for bunnies, but hard as hell to find pups, ive been trying for years to find a nice litter but unless you know the right people they are already reserved before they even hit the ground!
  20. right lads might be stepping on dangerous ground here but i see alot of you are working hancock dogs. im not one to believe everything i here but obviously theres very mixed opinions on them. in your opinion as owners, how do they fair against other working bred dogs youve owned? dont want to start a war by asking this, just want some honest opinions
