baldocks always been hot. I drive through the banks every day no one runs them. perhaps its because the hares are too easy ? !because a few travelling men rate the dog it doesent make him the real deal. could you imagine a race horse never winning a race and going to stud ? Then people making big statements like hes as good as RED RUM !! !! Thats the exact same as saying hes better than laddie or luckie ! or a fighter never fighting for a belt but saying hes better than RAY ROBINSON. CHAMPIONS STEP UP TO THE MARK. Its not a few travelling men rate the dog but some off the best

IM HAPPY BEING A NAME DROPPER BAW I think to be honest, their isn't much variation in the breeding from what I see..... pretty much pure bred or first crosses...... I maybe wrong though. yeah, your miles off! so what is it really would like to know r30 years of breeding.Salukis bred into old fashioned rough lurchers ,then the best to the best or a sticker to a speedy one to complement each other t get what weve got now, dogs with everything Right, just basically copying jamie post.........a simple I haven't a f*****g clue would have done Thats how it is from my

Lots of dogs get a good name without running matches, but they have to consistently kill 3s in the right place,at the right time,in front of the right men. Trouble is,dogs can get talked up!If they are consistent match winners, they are doing it in front of different crowds so that cant be argued with, the results are there.

i agree mate it sounds like its al about the money he will never get any credit till he matches one of the big shots its lurchers were talking about working mans sport whatever happend to a pup for a service or a resonable fee top class greyhounds dont cost this much its a joke for people to be trying to charge there fellow hunters that sort of money like i said earlier its all about the money its all high risk now to get dogs where you want them ,so this partly forces the values up.The other reason is the amount of money lads have got because of the other game !

that may well be but why wont or hasnt he he matched him? laddie run plenty of matches so did lucky and then I herd a bitch called foxy is ment to have done fairlt well at matching? If he gets in contact Ill sort a race out next year and these 2 dogs here havent got any shortish of backers either. has your dogs had many matches, any photo,s of them let us know if he takes up the offer. I havent got a dog werthy of matching anymore. There is a fella who lives 6 - 7 mile from me who has a dog himself and his boy has a dog and they couldnt get a match with them last year. but they live f

you need a saluki baw Thats the last thing I need mate I did have a dog who would run shoulder to shoulder with deeer mate and just stare them in the eye lol. It was as if the deer knew it was safe, b*****d. The most annoying thing was, he'd f*****g run like this into the distance lol so you have kept a saluki then only the one lol :secret: Even more evidence that you dont know your arse from your elbow !

Maybe i am making assumtions, you're right, i shouldn't do, but like i said i'm new to this and can only go on what i've read. I was asking mainl i nreference to his breeding Sorry fo being a tit! Whin you sound like an arsehole. Like the lad said."he's new to it" so why be a c**t? The lad only asked for knowledge on a certain line And the question he asked was relative to the toppic. Anyway, carry on lads good reading on this thread... Thanks mate - i really enjoy reading what you lot have to say, facinating stuff - don't want to piss anyone off... Batter in Hamish

condition and fitness of coursing dogs
stubblebasher replied to poacherman's topic in Lurchers & Running Dogs
the dog would do those few miles while going out and looking for the runs it needs to be fit. Also the guys who live around my area who ran and still run the big land have it good. Its moorland, and there is nothing better than to work a dog on rough big uplands to get it fit. Much more demanding on muscles than the flat land(till they get behind something). Also remember that each and every dog is different, and some salukis have weight problems were they cant hold any. And it drops off them with in 5 mins.. Has anyone used the treadmill instead of road work? Ive heard mixed r -

yes mate, but hes producing whole litters which are top class. You will not see pups advertised which speaks volumes that seems a lot but if he is producing top animals you can't grumble can you.....but this LUCAS dog ain't a proven producer so i think the stud fee would be a big gamble to say the least Lucas might not be a good producer, and we wont find out for another two years, but i think the pups will be sought after at the moment on the strength of his reputation

THINK YOUR RIGHT HOW MANY PEOPLE YOU KNOW BEEN OFTEN £10,000 FOR DOG BUT THERE ALWAYS BE JEALOUSY PEOPLE BUT THAT IS THE WORLD WE LIVE IN are you 1 of his mates they were running hares last week not true coursing men more like£££££££££££££££ men out for a quick killing.to test a dog he need to be courising hares in season not the end off FEBUARY when the hares are gone. No season ended last month for the hares just few night lamping keep the dogs ticking over next year have hands full bringing up a pup. Sure if you kill hare in feb there no good or sep or nov the only

Ha ha nice one mate

That is almost the divvy quote of the year i agree ! what kind of deer has he got around him ?! Id like to run them . Or what kind of dogs has he seen run !!!?
-
i agree with you Baz people are breeding on the strength of the bloodline without fully testing the parents. The dog or bitch one day could bump into MrRight and get found out!then you could find yourself surounded by pups out of second rate stuff! a lot of it is the man behind the dog,but the greats are born not made

There are several examples dogs which spring to mind where a stud dog produces better pups than himself.Caufields joe is a classic example,he was the sire to lucky which needs no explanation .He also sired the two great bitches which Dell Tomlin bred who have now gone on to be good producers.Nuttalls jack is out of foxy joe and he himself is throwing match winners which are arguably better than he was.Buddy although very well bred (Foxie Charlie),was only an average dog but is producing good tackle.Talking about Charlie he threw Bradfords Luke.Barney was a great fenland dog, although he could k
