  1. Hi, Due to the very widespread Mixi outbreak here in North Wales, Can I offer the services of an experienced ferreter to needy falconers further afield? I had the pleasure of watching Harris hawks taking rabbits bolted by ferrets in the hills above Church Stretton some years ago, would enjoy such an opputunity again. Regards Netfull
  2. Due to the local widespread mixi outbreak looks like I'll be sitting on the subs bench this season, If anyone can offer me some sport,I'll gladly be of assistance (and should events come full circle will return the favour.) I have 20 years or so experience,4 wheel drive ,2 terriers (1 patt. 1 jrt) 2 fitch hobs, locators and nets. I live in North Wales and will consider all offers of help. Many thanks, Netfull
  3. A recent post of mine indicated a Mixi outbreak in the Wirral\North Wales area, after a short mooch on the remaining permission in the Willaston area, no signs of Rabbit life were visable. Any one else struggling on the Wirral? Regards, Netfull
  4. Hi Chris, Don't worry about leaving a human scent around the holes, that rabbit has just caught the scent of the ferret in the hole and is leaving by the nearest exit at 30 mph! (Was it Brian Plummer that had his nose broken by a bolting rabbit?) Regards Netfull
  5. Thanks for your replies,as for thier diet well that 's pretty diverse from dog food to cooked chicken, raw eggs and general leftovers, perhaps that could be the answer, try them on just one thing at a time and see if that makes any difference. thanks, Netfull
  6. Hi Folks, One of my ferrets has developed an irregular cough(not constant if you get my drift),no signs of any swellings or obstruction, not contagious as the other one is fine, seems to be eating ok,no weight loss and is relatively active despite the lack of work due to the local mixy outbreak. Can any members throw some possible light onto this condition as to its cause and-or possible remedy, any suggestions welcome apart from any that contributes financially to the vets new Volvo!
  7. Hi fellow warreners, My seasons start has almost come to a full stop due to quite a severe outbreak of Mixi in the Cheshire and north Wales area, I live in North Wales but my Permission is some 8 miles away in Cheshire. My first day out of the season I saw only one rabbit in about 1 1/2 hours mooching! I presume the landowner was reluctant to tell me of such an outbreak as I have worked his land for some 20 years or so, My own local area does contain a small population of rabbits,I'm unsure if they have been affected by this absolute curse, because of their low numbers I tend to leave the
  8. Sorry Eamonn to hear of your sad loss,It's good to see so many replies who share your loss, Regards NETFULL
  9. Hi Frank, My experience of ferreting this time of year has indicated that warrens are occupied mainly by does, probably in anticipation of impending birth of young, and resolutely refuse to bolt, I never feed my ferrets prior to working, this I believe gives them a greater urge to work, and once fed a rabbit they know the score! 10. Hi, Strange isn't it we cannot get 50p for a rabbit yet the organic food industry is worth absolute millions, and growing? People are paying fortunes for food grown without chemical fertilizers and meat produced without a cow eating her best mate, We come to the rabbit, a source of organic meat that is in abundance and yet free from chemicals, is able to grow a coat and able to turn around in its eviroment, but sadly times have changed unless your rabbit portions are offered on a polystyrene tray and covered with cling film people aren't going to give it a second look. Man's introdution of

  14. Hello one and all, Nice to be associated with like minded people, I'm currently struggling with all new stock at the moment;young ferretsx2 Polecats, 1 outsize patterdale, 11" at the shoulder and weighing in at 25 lb 18 months old,and finally a j.r.t. pup that thinks its a demented stoat! Mild weather and a previous bout of mixy have taken their tol on the local rabbit population, those lucky enough to survive the mixy were probably drowned in the brimming ditches that are widespread here(n.wales). regards netfull
