  1. Mine makes a bit more noise than it did at first but I have a quieter gun so Im wondering if its just in my head. Then I realised its pushing more air out every shot as its .177 and my others are .22 If its shooting straight mate dont wory about it most pcps have a bit of chime to em. Just make sure everything is tight all the mounts stock screws anything you can see and see if it makes a difference. It maybe the fact that the grease they put in the hammer mech is known for breaking down and the power increasing so keep an eye on the power.
  2. If its a multichoke even a short barrel should pattern the same as a longer barrel. Ive ordered a 26" maxus semi for a hide gun and I asked this question also. The short barrel should just make it more pointable for snap shooting, not ideal for long range geese I suppose but I only shoot pigeons anyway.
  3. I have just shot a slab of those kent velocity 29grm 6,s last week and to be honest I thought they were the worst catridges Ive used for some years. In fact the amount of birds I had to second shot even 3rd shot was crazy. I smashed one bird about 25yrds last week it hit the middle of the pattern and started hopping off I gave it two shots from the hide blowing plenty of feathers off it went to pick it and it was still alive, and that was the case most of the day god knows what was happening. I choked tighter the day after and again every other bird was recovering at 25yrds max and
  4. Aye his name is Ricky Hatton fat b*****d knew a thing or two about a thing or two
  5. Tricky little bugger would have been better off a wrestler than boxer lol. I think you celebrated a bit early at one point mate then when everyone thought the show was over the little ***T had some life left in him in the next round. But you did just fine scene as he didnt come to box. Its going to look messy when you fight someone like that but what can you do other than get the win, its a shame you didnt get a knock out though he was dazed at one point lol.
  6. look up a dog called Oxcroft rocket, Im sure my dad had some dogs from that line and they were good dogs, cant ask my dad afraid as he isnt here anymore, but all I know is as a kid I was surrounded with working borders all worked as much as possibe. Wish we could have carried the line on and had pups off her, in the 1980s, I ended up with lakeland x russels and whippets but still had the old border bitch and she would still punish the russels every now and then lol.
  7. Nice one mate, testement to the old s10 quality/accuracy.
  8. I shoot everything with a maintained lead what that maintained lead is depends on the speed of the target be it a clay or a real pigeon. Only experience can teach you that just like hitting a ball with a bat its all hand eye coordination. The best method of shooting anything is let your mind imagine when its the best time to pull the trigger, on the clay ground I usually subconsciously pick a point where I want to break the clay then when I step in the cage I have already a plan as the where is my ideal point to shoot the clay. Clay pigeon shooting teaches you a great deal but pige
  9. Im wanting a shell catcher for that reason anyone know where to get em in the uk?
  10. My mate had his S10 blueprinted by JB and it came back saying Defiant were the most accurate in his barrel out to 50yrds with the targets to prove beating the jsb and aa fields. They are expensive like but the BSA is one of the few guns that likes em in my experience, but it dont half group with em and will no doubt do the damage good un proper when he gets round to getting some actual hunting instead of polishing lol.
  11. Nice one, were you on the fly or course fishing?
  12. Thats a cracking looking little bitch, ATB with her whoever has her.
  13. The best thing to do is buy a cheap pair of shooting glasses and tape the left lense on the inside with black electricians tape then you wont look daft on the clay ground.
  14. Ive raised the cash from some other items so Ive decided to withdraw it from sale I just cant part with her. Thanks to all for looking.
  15. Thats the kind of info I wanted and the reason I went for the maxus. Ive stripped them both sx3 and maxus and the maxus is a very similar gun and the same breed so I should be ok. What cartridge do you mainly use?
  16. If your master eye is your right eye then shoot righthanded if your master eye is your left you have two options. 1, learn to shoot left handed (very difficult) 2, shoot right handed as normal try shutting your left eye when you shoot. Ive seen shotguns fitted with like black out cover fitted as to block your view on the left side but I wouldnt know where you could buy one. To see if it works you could wear an eye patch when out shooting to find out if your shooting improves, but on a clay ground you would look a bit odd.
  17. 60 years into breeding terriers. He could have wrote a book like the others have with his knowledge of terriers, in fact there has been books wrote by others with half the experience of Jack.
  18. I nearly bought a Benelli. But my mate bought one brand new for their yearly trip up to the orkney isles gooseing. And it wouldnt cycle the cartridges he took so it was a long way to go to discover that. So on return he took it back to the shop and they supposedly sorted it for him so he sold it to a mate, who then took it upto the orkney isles and guess what happened, Then you cant get em sorted by the shop because he isnt the original owner, bit of a nightmare gun that one so I wouldnt say Benelli are without their problems you can get bad ones for some reason just like anyt
  19. yes I didnt realise you were left handed but your master eye is your right so you would shoot better from your right shoulder if possible.
  20. I know this is an old thread but my dad now dead and gone bred borders/russels and was big mates with jack price 35yrs ago. In fact jack pulled my front teeth out when I was 6 yrs old Ill never forget it because they wearnt ready Anyway the dogs my dad had all worked and on the black uns in the 60s/70s and like said they were brilliant dogs in fact he didnt rate lakeys as they just got smashed up, but the borders in those days would have more sense and these were the days before locators so a good dog would bay and let you know where they were. But even some of those old Borders o
  21. Try adding a slip on recoil pad see if this helps by adding a bit of length. Try adding some packing to your cheek piece.
  22. Its a fit issue or the fact your left eye maybe your master eye. To check point at a distant object with your finger keep both eyes open then shut one eye at a time and watch where your finger goes. If it moves when you shut your left eye then your left eye is the master eye then you have problems shooting a shotgun unless you learn to shoot with your left eye closed. Also some cheaper guns dont have concentric barrels they should shoot in the same place roughly at 30yrds if not its your barrels, I just got rid of a £3k gun as the second barrel shot lower than I would like. Im
