The vast majority of Am Bulls are just that and therein lies the rub...shit stck sold by yanks to puppy peddlars who hype the breed up as drug dealers dog of choice and hey presto, more shit examples on street corners, which get bred. There are some very good ab's about you just need to know who has them. They dont often breed and they are fussy who they go to.

As the owner of a dual champ AB, i am really interested in who this guy is who can sells bulldogs (any type) for £1500. What breed of bulldog are we talking? What makes him and the poor saps who pay this money think they are worth that? Are the parents titled/tested? At the end of the day, professional built kennels and being worked once a day just means they are livestock - he is obviously a peddlar. The ab suffered with some major peddlars in the past, now the money's gone from them, so are these people....

how has your bulldog caught rabbits, foxes and squirrels mate? sounds abit far fetched to me... i can believe it would despatch them all with relative ease, but lets remember that wily charlie often outsmarts even good lurchers... that said, my gundog bitch catches them, but only because she charges through cover harder than them ~ i cant imagine an am bull getting through that quick... you got any pics? I understand your skeptisim but believe what you will. Rabbits numerous rabbits caught in the mendips, where i used to live and ran him in a reserve called velvet bottom (clues in the

Dogo's are here in limited numbers, unofficially. seen them here and Europe, never seen one i would rate over a proper AB let alone a well bred pit. Dogo's and Cane corso's are getting the hype the apbt and ab got, which suits me as an ab owner.

A pure standard AB would, in my opinion be closer due to the 7/8ths ruling of the american NKC and the fact that many apbt breeders in the us had ab's as well as pbt's. If your talking historically yes the stafford pre 1970's would have been closer but the apbt post 1970's was bred up and more muscular (west coast style) after Carl Semencic's 1st book, where the similarity to the AB (not JDJ bred type) occurs.

I have a 95lb AB, closest thing to a PBT legally here in uk, he can catch rabbits, fox and squirrels and rats. Might not have the sucess rate of other breeds but he is never intenionally worked in this way but can still catch and dispatch. A pure pbt would be very similar i am sure. As for APBT being dangerous to own, in the wrong hands yes, but so are motor cars, kitche knives ect. The reason they are banned is due to the polictical climate of the time and irresponsible owners buying scatterbred dogs who were never tested in any way and, as has been th case with the ab, the yanks selli

AS Wallace was fighting "english" nobles they were really Frenchmen so fair play..... thats a tradition we carried on for 100's of years!!!!

Dont think price comes into it? I have seen in the AB, dogs costing £1000 being dumped, people can't be arsed once past the cute puppy stage and they have to expend time and effort, not money! As for lezzers, why do they never look like they do on dvd in real life???

won't eat meat but will lick the carpet

the dog should have been given the same respect one has for all quarry and a quick dispatch if it was unwanted. I don't believe in rehoming in my particular breed but smaller less MA dogs do deserve a chance at finding a new home if they dont come up to scratch. Bring back the birch...........

i agree for some people the army is the way to go, generally not for the independently minded like myself. I do think, however, that first hand experience of war will make you re evalute your reasons for joining. No as i have been nice and professional.....we want to see you in uniform? to prove you are a female soldier?

Thanks, the late night ramblings when stuck on nighshift at a major terrorist target aren't in vain then. I am a patriot, just not a blind one.

yes - briefly.....not for me !! although i can understand the attraction for young lads but the full extent of what can happen in a war zone both physically and mentally is understated by the MOD and until it happens to you or someone you know then you wont get it!

Because of great recruitment techniques honed over many years since the landed gentry couldn't force you to fight for their cause or be evicted... "Be the best" "No limits" "travel the world" - sounds better than dole queue and no real prospects cos the economy is goosed. In reality if you have some acedemic quals you go REME and try to get a trade out of it, if your better off you do Sandhurst and a commission before getting a well paid job in the private sector. If the recruiter said "join the army, go to a shit hole and get shot at or bombed, if you are injured Help for Heroes will

Have to admit that this is the funniest thread i have read for ages, being from Birmingham and knowing Alum Rock i near pissed myself at the references. Little Timmy, if you really have joined up to experience war then you are the most stupid c**t on here( your words about fellow members! not mine) The people you are joining up to protect in afghanistan manage if they are lucky, to travel to any other part of the world to avoid the experience! you are volunteering to go? Many people who have served in conflicts find the experience life changing in many ways, mostly for the worse.

No you cant legislate morals BUT you can legislate for cruelty. I have not watched the video either but can state that anyone who enjoys inflicting suffering has no place around any animals at all. I don't disagree with culling a litter should the need arise, however, i would expect a level of respect for the creatures concerned which would entail them being dispatched quickly and with minimal suffering. Before you think i am an animals rights infiltraitor i would confirm that i shoot live game and even in this field if i have to dispatch a wounded bird i get pi**sed off at myself for no

Anyone who is looking for an ab guard/working dog can have an adult male free from a friend of mine who breeds/shows and does sport work. He imported a male who has bred some nice pups but the dog itself isn't working out for him. The dog has caught boar in florida before coming over so prey drive is there, shows no interest in sport work thou? anyone interested pm me and i will pass details on...

Sh*t owner if they have three rotts running out of control. At least in Scotland they will proescute and sentencing is likely to be harsher than in England.

Most of the breeds mentioned can be good guard dogs but i think te problem lies in finding a good specimen of any of the breeds. A good apbt is more likely to want to play with people, most of the aggressive ones were fear biters and despite the myth that many pit dogs which displayed this trait were not used at stud, many were. Certainly in the 's in the uk anyway? For me a good guard dog is one which can be around people and switch on as a situation arises, it can be the best guard dog in the world but if you have to lock it away all day it aint much use. My ab suits me fine, 95lb

If boar were numerous enough they may be of some use but there is nothing really big enough in the uk to pose a challenge. As for being a liability it depends on what you mean, for what he is used for family guard/pet he is fine but bulldogs aren't really a dog you can let run round the park as they have dominance issues with other dogs. As for being ugly, it's in the eye of the beholder i suppose. He is a great looking bulldog, but bulldogs are an acquired taste anyway. Cheers for comments anyway

she is kc lines, saredon is kennels. I was planning to use her beating but another baby meant i had to hold off training so i may take a pup off her in 12 months and try to get some work done with new pup. they are a bit big to dig with but for gerenal hpr work should be fine. I want to see them worked in the field rather than a show bench! dont know of anyone working them in uk so i may have to start a trend?? return to function.

Aren't most Americans in Arizona more concerned with the threat from Mexican drug gangs than from opium farmers thousands of miles away? When you put the losses of soldiers in combat against the losses through drug probems in your own back yard surely the USA has it's priorities wrong? JMO
