  1. I have a Nightforce NXS 12-42 X 56 RifleScope for sale, its in perfect working order and has the NP1RR Reticule as below. The scope has the illuminated adjustable reticule, sunshade, bikkini covers, Warne mounts and bases. Looking of £1200 or very near offer. Would prefer if buyer collects.
  2. Guys, I have taken a fox with the .17hmr at 188yds with a shot to the heart and lungs. It stopped it instantly in its tracks. Yes I will admit it was a very long shot for the hmr, but there was no wind and I had just zero'd the gun 20 mins earlier at 100yds and knew the drop, there was no wind so I took the shot. Bingo. I wouldn't recommend it for everyday use though on Charlie.
  3. On my initial FAC i had a 17hmr and a .22lr. After 6 months the 17hmr was sold and the .22lr was still going strong. The .22lr is very quiet and deadly on rabbits, hares, and corvids up to 75 yds and beyond. The 17hmr was very accurate if there was no wind but it is noisy and expensive to feed when compared to the .22lr. In addition I would be surprised if you could get a 17hmr for fox control as most police forces don't allow it. (Even though it stops them stone dead.) If you want my 2p's worth I would get a .22lr and a .223rem. The .22lr will stop everything up to 75yds easily and the .223re
  4. Upto 100yds a .22lr CZ 452 is a fantastic rabbiting tool. I have literally shot 1000's of them with mine and the gun will give me 1" groups at 100yds all day with eley subsonics. I am glad I didnt waste my money on a more expensive rifle as the CZ is fantastically accurate for £400, what more do you want from a rabbiting rifle. Yes an Anschutz will give tighter groups I guess but does it matter if you do 3/4" or 1" inch groups at 100yds when hunting. I don't think so.
  5. My 2p's worth, On your initial I would apply for every eventuality, I initially applied for .22lr, .17hmr and .243. In hindsight I should have applied for .22lr, .223rem and .308. If I were you I would go for .223rem instead of the .222 as the ammo is more readily available and cheaper if you buy factory ammo. You will also get a better selection of bullets and better velocity. If you are interested in deer apply for a rifle for that too. There is a standard price when you apply so as long as you have a good reason for each calibre you should get them. You should have no problem gettin
  6. I saw this rifle on the Gun Trader and it looked a really nice rifle, so I did a bit of research to find a little more about them. From what I have read online Tikka M55's actions have a good reputation for being a rock solid smooth action, so I bought the rifle with the intention of bedding the rifle into a new McMillan tactical style stock with an Accuracy International bottom metal assembly and magazine. The rifle currently has an unfired 26" PacNor 1 in 9 twist barrel and it has the delux wooden stock, the stock is immaculate as you can see. Do you think this is a good
  7. .243Win. Nice, what load/recipe? 80Grain Berger Varmint 37.5 Grains Varget Rem 210m Primers Lapua Brass Seated just touching the lands 3030fps 1631ft/lb Sub 1" groups at 200yds. 1/2MOA, nice! What was the dial up on the 340yd shot? About 4 3/4 moa? Nice shooting by the way, and that is a cracking 200yd group, you must be pleased with the whole combination. It shoots well. My scope is a Schmidt and Bender in MIL RADS Mate. It was 15 clicks if I remember right.

  9. I was out lamping last night and bagged 20+ rabbits, this morning after gutting and skinning them I decided to try and bag a few of the foxes that have been increasing in numbers on my fathers land. I emptied the guts at the bottom of the valley about 150yds from a hide I had set up and waited to see what turned up. The muntie was the first to appear, he initially came into sight at 400yds but as was working his way towards me I let him come until he was at 177yds. He got a little twitchy so I decided to put the new Schmidt to the test. The munties dropped like a sack of spuds from a high

  11. HELP STOP THE EXCESSES IN THE FOOTBALL PREMIERSHIP WAGES !!! PLEASE READ BELOW !!! Last Night on TV I watched with disgust Lord/Sir Alan Sugar investigate the reasons why footballers wages in recent years have spiralled out of all control. I watched the players , agents, managers and chief executives of the FA blaming each other for these excesses. The bottom line was that since Sky Sports took over TV coverage of the football premiership, Sky have been giving more money to each club than the entire league used to receive in previous years. Some might say its a good thing giving th
  12. Was that in a .243win, if so what twist rate and what load were you using if you don't mind me asking ??? Thx Mate.
  13. Hiya Guys, I am looking at developing a new load and would like to try the .243 Sierra grain Blitz. Have any of you guys on here had any experiences with them ??? I have had amazing accuracy with brain bergers but they don't seem to be as explosive on targets as V-Max. Are the grain Sierra blitz any better ???
  14. Hiya Guys, I have a box of Hornady 87 grain V-Max for sale. These are currently very hard to get hold of in the UK for some reason so if you want them please send a P.M asap. £40 collected. MUST HAVE THE REQUISITE ALLOWANCES FOR .243 EXPANDING AMMO ON FAC TICKET !!!
  15. Hiya Kev, I have P.M'd my phone number to you. Let me know when you want to come and I can meet you on the M1. Rob Smith
  16. Hiya Guys, I have had interest from a couple of people for these bullets but both lived a bit too far away to pick them up. I have; 100x 88grain Berger bullets. 65x 87 grain Hornady V-Max 63x 80grain Nosler ballistic tips. I bought a whole selection of different bullets when I bought my Tikka T3 and tried them all to see which ones worked best in my rifle. For those that are not sure they are not complete ammo, they are just the bullet (heads) and need to be used by reloaders. I will split them but you must have the authority on your ticket to purchase this quantity o
  17. If you join the UK Long range forum they have a load center section and on there they have the very thing you are looking for. I am pretty sure they have a few Varget loads for the 87 grain Hornady Loads using varget. To be honest the hornady bullets are good bullets and have performed really well at extended ranges as well as close in, the problem with them is that they are prone to fliers. This is caused by inconsistencies in size and weight. I have personally weighed a box of 100 87 grain V-Max and found .01" difference in length from o-give to base and .8grain difference in weight over
  18. Not at 4000fps in a .243, a 22.250 which is a smaller caliber can send a 40grain bullet at 4500fps without issues. My father used to run 40's at that speed in his 22.250 for years.
  19. I have shot many rabbits with my CZ452 at 100yds+. After chaging the trigger and floating the barrel it will group eley subs at 50yds bullet on bullet. I have taken the time to shoot at a target and use each mildot on my crosshairs as the aiming point. I then use this information to use different mildots depending upon range. I use a MTC Mamba 4-16x50 and have taken rabbits up to 130yds with it. As long as the wind is low you should find 100yds quite easy using this method.
  20. Just got mine off of E-Bay £100 posted. Not sure about variable though. Do you mean it has a dimmer switch??? I don't think they come with dimmers, I am not certain, but I think you buy that as an after market add on.
  21. I had to re-apply for my SGC after a 2 year break. I applied for my FAC at the same time. I applied for .22lr, 17hmr and .243. I have since applied for .22 FAC air rifle, 20cal and .308 and I have n't had the FAC 12 months yet either. If you have a good record of responsible behaviour and good reasons for holding the firearms you will have no problem. If you shoot around buildings on a farm ask for .22 FAC air as its far safer than a .22lr around buildings due to richochets. Also ask for .22lr for rabbiting at short range, (up to 75yds) you will be able to ask for a long range rabbiti
  22. Nice shooting buddy. I have shot a fox with a 17hmr at 188yds and it dropped like a stone.
  23. .22lr CZ452 for close range rabbits and a .243 with a 1 in 9 twist barrel for everything else. Dont get a 1 in 10 as it will not stabilise a 100grain bullet and you will need a 100 grain bullet for deer in Scotland. My .243 will group 0.5" at 200yds with Berger bullets and Varget and isgreat for long range rabbits, foxes and Munties. What more do you want ???
  24. If you are after a .243 for deer get one with a 1 in 9 twist barrel as a 1 in 10 will struggle to stabilise a 100grain bullet in most instances and you will need 100grainers to shoot deer in Scotland. I have a Tikka T3 Super Varmint and it shoots 0.5" groups at 200 yds off of sandbags. (80grain bergers with 37.5 grains of varget) Its an awesome rifle and the accuracy is as good as most custom jobbies. Tikka and Sako are made in the same factory and the accuracy is second to none. Homeloads will get the very best out of your rifle, don't be fooled into believing that you have to ha
