    i shot a couple of rats mating with an air rifle about 13 years ago, but yours takes the buscuite mate well done !

    Cant go wrong with hazel,i cut mine as thick as my thumb and if you tie wrap them to summit stait just now they should be ready to use next season and only a few will need heat straitened

    I used woodcock when training my lab at about 10mnths old and have never had any problems retreiving woodcock. last week on our syndicaite a gun marked a woodcock down in a certain area and several dogs had been tried to retrieve it,eventually it was decided that it wasnt there and the gun had been mistaken, i was trying to pick a partridge at the time but went for a go at retreiving it after the bird was picked and my dog picked it relitively quickly,I'm not suggesting that my dog is a wonder dog(far from it) but wonder if the fact he had been retreiving them in training at such an early age

    I find this topics really interesting because we as a syndicaite spend alot of money to lease shooting rights on some farmland not mention the cost of building relaese pens,buying poults and feeding them ect ect then take into consideration the time and effort that goes into maintaining a game syndicaite !! Now just before the season started i was there plodding away doing odds and ends just before dark only to hear CRACK ! CRACK ! CRACK ! now needless to say i rushed to the area where the bangs were coming from like a man possesed only to find some twat zeroing his riffle next to our main
