Well what would ye say it was?? ye obviously put the dog in such a place to test it and it failed,and if ye not frightend to put a dog in such places i bet ye do it again for the simple reason ye want a dog to be able to do it and ye must have had some do it ive never seen a dog given the run around for a full day and ive been to some big places and failed at them as well but never a full day so i dont know on that 1 whats other folks views on that 1 ??

there is no dog on the planet,past or present that could go out regular upto the age of 8 as your talking about and not come across a load of things that have been dug before.when they know your getting close and theyve been dug before its a fail because even the best out there aint stopping it.to say they can is bull and stupid.every dig is different ,a good dog will dig most .but even they cant do everywhere all the time for loads of different reasons.failed is a stupid word to describe a wee dog that gives its all if youve seen the best you know the only thing they want is a result.for them

Yes i do dig game thats been dug to before i do it specificaly to test dogs i accept a dog will get bossed about but i judge when i sink when hes holding quarry i dont drop a dog in and dig like feck i allow a dog to work first Im glad you wrote this. Do you allow for young dogs on say there 1st few digs to make any mistakes at all, or do all of your young dogs have to have to dig them text book perfect, dog in and on dig out not putting a foot wrong? Correct me if i am wrong ye may have worded ye question wrong to me that means ye have a current dog in ye kennels that has failed walked what ever yeah, whys it still in ye kennels then ?? ive got dogs here that have never failed thats why they are here plenty of folks have dogs that never fail thats why they have them also,but i have had plenty fail and were culled anybody that says they have never had a dog fail is a fibber or only owned 1 dog and anybody that keeps a failure in there kennels is soft in the head and anybody that breeds of 1 is a wanker no the dogs i got at the moment

Why do you find it hard to believe, just because you havent seen something doesnt mean it doesnt happen, Ive seen a few terriers over the years that never failed I find it very hard to understand why some folk cant belive it as well and if ye say ye have a dog that in your eyes has never failed ye get called a liar ive sat and thought about it and i think some folks are getting mixed up and have different opinions of what is a fault and what is a failure

Different folks have different opinions on whats a fault and failure though fella and ye have to respect alot of folks have different opinions and its good to get different opinions and views my dogs may have what to me are faults but to another man there a failure and vice versa some folks let faults and failures slide and some dont it doenst mean either man is better its simply a post to get folks thoughts and views on the matter and so far there has been some decent posts for a change

right ye daft little cuni i put this ive had a few dogs that have never failed i aint lieing plenty can vouch for it i dont lie if it fails i cull it simple ive never bred of a dog that has failed, plenty folk out there have also bred of dogs that have never failed thats why they have stud dogs and brood bitchs that they breed from now ye keep failures in ye kennel and ye breed from them fair enough ye honest about it but to me ye keep culls i have different standards and am perhaps harsher than ye where on this post did i say ive never had a dog fail ??? ive not have i ye c**t ive culled doze

Hedz31 this should be an intresting topic and imo the usual folk think they are dictaters or dog gods probably wont reply! Have i bred from dogs with faults,of course i have,but ive used my outcross dog that is known for the traits im looking to correct,be it brains,nose,steadiness whatever it may be. One of the best dogs ive dug to over 8 hard seasons graft was lifted on more than one occasion after failing to bottle up quarry,i dont mean after an hour it was more 4 hours of constant round and round,the dog showed and was lifted before flying back to ground,that was a failed dig in my opinion

There is also men that buy terriers in and fail then think a terrier that has not failed does not exsist because they have never owned 1,if they keep buying them eventualy they will get 1 though just how much are they willing to spend

Thats a decent post and it has happened to me on 2 occasions and the bitches were as ye say 5 and 6 and no i didnt get shut of them i gave them the chance roughly half of each litter failed 1 or 2 badly but they were given the chance and were tried and entered the same as any other litter, i might add both litters were of the same sire who was at the time 12 with 1 litter and 14 with the other and was retired and in my eyes never failed may i also add that both bitchs were in my eyes of a decent breeding age and had proved themselves worthy in my eyes of breeding of if they had failed before

Fair comment now whats ye thoughts on a dog thats never failed ye think myth or possible ??how would ye feel about buying or fetching a dog of someone if they said it had walked, had to have more than 1 hole dug to it, struggled to find ,got bossed about regular,cant get up to some quarry and think it could of tried harder would ye take the pup ??? no mate i wouldnt buy a pup mate but if the dog was a strong an struggled in tight places then thats diffrent long as once up to quarry it didnt walk then yes id take a pup sometimes you need diffrent terriers for diffrent situations and sette

never bred a dog ever, but I do know lads that have bred dogs and have stock off of dogs that in my eyes failed on the job. Their choice but wouldnt be mine. Fair comment fella

Right due to the argumentative topic that most have proberly read, i would like to try and get some honest views on what folks keep in there kennels and what they have bred from,do folks out there think that it is possible to have a terrier never fail, i am finding it really hard to belive that everybody on here has never had a terrier not fail if so honestly how many of ye have bred from dogs that have failed ?? surely if its impossible like some folk like to think that would mean every current terrier in the uk is bred out of stock that has somewhere in its career failed ,surely if a young t
