nice little team

You're talking as if a trained spar is going to muller every Blackbird in the vicinity, this won't happen with the advantage virtually always with the fitter wild quarry, a Trained spar will never be as fit as the quarry you're flying even if you fly it everyday. you would be surprised how they struggle with Blackbirds in fair flight straight off the fist, there's always a very high percentage chance the quarry will make its escape knowing the terrain better than the trained hawk. People shoot and Hunt quarry everyday not always for the pot, Pheasants get shot for sport with some ending up

do you think for 1 minute the blackbird would be left to rot or anything else caught straight in the freezer for the moult i think watching a bop do its thing is a lot better than shooting things but thats my opinion and you ask any decent sparvitor whos been flying spars will tell you the blackbird is the ultimate test i know 4 old boys who have all been flying accipiters for thirty years plus and they say the same and so will any other sparvitor the old boy you was out with mustnt of had a spar capable ps bringing the sport into disrepute a spar with a blackie or yo with a roe and a

you can apply for a liscence to take them whats wrong with that very hard to catch but great flights all legit Got to agree I just don't know why you'd want to hunt blackbirds Now if your talking a nice partridge then I can totally see where your at, IMO it's either got to end up on my plate surrounded by vegetables or be vermin i never said just blackbirds but they push a spar to the limit read above you wont take more than five in a season nice mixed bag with other quarry

you can apply for a liscence to take them whats wrong with that very hard to catch but great flights all legit Ok I stand corrected, but having never had any interest in catching blackbirds I would not know although I did know you could catch larks under license,I just think legal or not its bad press for our sport, its easy to justify catching pest species, but blackbirds just for sport?? just my opinion,I think it puts us in a bad light. blackbirds are the ultimate quarry for spars the flights are something else i dont think [NO TEXT TALK] would catch more than 5 in a season its not al

spot on mick! you'll have some excellent sport mate . a guy down here had a cracking female which just got better and better every year! if you read some of the old books they always mention that Larks are only good for the first year and and lack lustre from the second year on! this is cobblers mate. she was perfect in the end standing off the larks until they finally dropped for cover, seen her so high on occasions you couldn't see the lark! she was litteraly just a little cross in the sky and often took the larks just feet from the ground, unfortunately she died from egg peritonitus in the

same for the lads taking larks Merlin hawking. Its also surpriseing how difficult it is to catch a cunning yellow billed cock with a trainned spar without some beating assitance. a quarry licence are usually granted no problem, certainly wouldn't be that many taken through out the season. hi jasp my mates imprinting a merlin he bread this year so ill be out on the larks this year hopefully goodluck for the seasn

you really shouldnt be looking for a bird for a first timer you should be looking for a bird your gunna be happy with for years hh people get them and then move them on because they then think they know it all as above look at the land and quarry you have available and find what bird will be suited to you
-
people will normally say a harris for a first timer because there easy going but i would look at the land and quarry which you will be flying and decide what bird would be suited to the land and quarry then find a decent mentor who flys bop what would suit your type of flying and go from there get that right and youll love it

dont remove them are they new feathers is she moulting if so shell drop them herself and grow new ones just keep her fat and plenty of daylight and a bit of clover honey on her food

mick1212 replied to big chief1's topic in Working Dogs & Livestock
never seen lamp, hare, or caught anything to retrieve, i dont run dogs at this age unless its sept when they are 12 mth. this pup is 12 mth on july 12th. hes run 1 fox daytime that jumpewd up whilst walking him behind my house, fully grown and couldnt escape him, hes fast powerful, very clever but as i say needs bringing on NOW. THATS WHY HES GOT TO GO NOW. if hes still here in two weeks i'll get him fit to run in stubble to see what he can do. Hes cheap, i paid double as a pup, hes jabbed, microchipped and ready for training, ie retrieving etc, what do people want for their money nowadays, -
