  1. no probs why dont you keep it and put a gas ram in it then they are brilliant guns i've still got my old tracker which was gathering dust on a shelf in the porch, the other day i grabbed it having not shot it for at least five years stuck in a pellet, wiped the dust of the lenses and shot a squirrel! cracking little gun forgot how fun they are. like the idea of getting a gas ram and revamping it a bit. are there diy kits and how easy are they to fit? or is it as cheap to get a gun smith to do it?
  2. i'm not sure of the excact dimensions but there is a minimum pophole size per so many birds. as fishfish says it doesn't take many dominant hens on each pophole to hold thousands of hens inside.
  3. thanks for the replies folks, i had clicked on the link a few times and it hadn't worked but just tried it and it worked straight away.
  4. i am moving at the start of feb and need to get my own kennels. have been looking for ideas/prices on the net and would like to try thedogruncompany but can't get on the website. does anyone have a phone number or have they stopped trading? i am after a block of three runs ideally, could make do with a double. only accepted the job new years day so need to measure the pad at my new place. be handy if its reasonably near oxford (now) or norfolk (soon) if its to be collected. any ideas or help much appreciated. cheers 1979keeper
  5. sorry for not getting back to you with pics and pedigree. if you are still interested the pup is still available you have a pm.
  6. i have a 7 month springer dog pup with papers. this was bred by a beater from my previous estate and i rate both parents which is why i brought the pup. i have had enough of my current job and decided to go for a change of lifestyle. hence i will no longer be needing gundogs from 1st feb. looking for £250 what i payed as a pup. please pm if interested.
  7. in light of recent events regarding the naming of a teddy bear mohammed in sudan, sooty has decided to cancel his tour of jamaica!
  8. due to timewasters i have a staffordshire bull terrier bitch pup for sale. the pups were born on 28.6.07 the colour is brindle with two white hind toes. sire of the litter is TORNADOSTORM BLOOD BROTHER AT LACARNIE his pedigree can be found on the uk staffordshire bull terrier site (sorry don't know how to do links) the bitch is my partners pet and our house dog. we bred the litter because we wanted a pup from this bitch as another pet. we had 4 pups a bitch we kept and two dogs which went to friends. we placed this bitch for sale at the time when bull breeds were getting bad press
  9. Rosehip & Apple Jelly 4lbs apples (windfalls will do) 2lbs ripe rosehips ~ Sugar Peel apples, and place in pan with rosehips with just enough water to cover, plus 1 pint extra. Simmer slowly until cooked. Strain through jellybag overnight. Measure juice, allowing 1lb sugar per pint. Mix sugar and juice in pan and boil until setting point is reached. Pot into warm jars. will this recipe work aswell without the rosehips? if i just use the crab apples is it the same amount of sugar per pint of juice after straining.
  10. hi i'm looking for rump gaurd to protect myself from brummy. any ideas!!??
  11. thanks strong stuff seriously fast delivery! excellent quality stuff would recommend this to anyone.
  12. i have worked on estates that have clipped, wing pulled and currently we release full winged. in my opinion releasing full winged is the best. the birds are quicker to roost and i believe it does give them the advantage from predators. one downside is you must be willing to spend your evenings at your pen untill dark untill they settle to roost. pulling wing feathers isn't legal but is the second best option, it promotes faster regrowth of feathers you do not have to wait for the cut stub to moult. i can understand for a part time keeper wing cliiping pheasants may be an easier option i ha
  13. i've got a half cross shephard greyhound now just over twelve months. i'm afraid to say the ears dropped for awhile but they soon stand back up! not the best looking cross but its not what they look like its how they perform in the field only time will tell.
  14. thanks for the replies folks. if you were to find one of these traps in a shed and kept it as a curiosity without setting it you are not breaking the law. what if you were to purchase a new version from a country were it was legal with no intention of using it over here, would it come through customs? presumably it is not illegal to posess one only to set it?
  15. could someone tell me if bow-net traps are legal in this country? i was told they used to be sold with an egg plate as a corvid trap. i know they are sold in america for catching feral pigeon and other species including hawks. i have seen no legistation saying they are illegal over here. i have seen antique traps of this type and feel in todays climate they would make a very good corvid trap being more discreet than a larson which can be seen from a distance and also you can release non target species to go about their merry way decimating songbirds/gamebirds.

  17. it is the bloke i put my name down on a pup just after the mating. glad this thread came up as i will not be buying anything of him. the timing of his 8 weeks at hmp are unfortunate but the bitch is due on the 11th june so he will not be involved in the whelping or rearing of this litter. if this hadn't come to light would he of phoned me said the pups doing well and its ready to pick up. i won't be lining the pockets of a peddlar. i would rather wait for a litter bred for the right reasons of a genuine lad.
  18. is this the bloke that put arthur over his greyhound?
  19. try running a strip of chicken wire about a foot deep either side of the ladder hanging down inside the trap and twist it together at the ends. you can pinch it in a bit as a baffle this still lets the birds drop in but prevents them from flying back out. i have used this and had success for both magpies and carrion crows. hope this helps cheers 1979keeper
  20. its a shame the win will be overshadowed by poor refereeing. he clearly stated their was time for the lineout. however i am english and the instant the game was over i was on the phone to my welsh mate singing just one cornetto between fits of laughter, nothing like a bit of friendly banter between the nations, god i hope we win next week or i'll never hear the blooby end of it!
  21. honestly because i have now twice found 2 half dead foxes in snares, i just dont think its a fair method or really needed.it is not an instant or imo plesant death and i think show little respect for the quarry(just my opiion) im not going to get into a debate about methods, just i think there are better methods, by dog or gun, or both. wink hound, don't want to get into the my ways better than yours debate either. i do feel snaring has its place as a method of control. as for finding half dead foxes nowadays all snares are required to have a stop and be free running not self locking. t
  22. speaking of filth stop pissing about on the computer and find me some smut! no ninja wanks this weekend! brummy is indeed a perverted genius!
  23. it may just be the flash on the camera, but did you weather the wire or have you set it straight after buying it? if not you may want to hang or bury your snares to remove some of the taint before you set them. i have seen wires set similar to your picture and as snareman describes. personally i prefer the loop across the run as snareman says. sometimes i think setting a wire near or under a fence is an advantage as i feel if the fox is used to pushing under a fence and feeling the fence wire on its back it will not get spooked if it touches the noose before drawing it tight enough to catch it
