  1. You really do talk rubbish sometimes, are you trying to kill the guy! There is little or no .223 Mil surplus, it is 5.56 which will fit but is over pressure for .223, unless of course you can find some original shit 5.56 mil spec. But you are unlikely to know so don't **** about and don't use it!! Best zip it when you don't know what you are talking about! WOW ! You have put it down ! :wankerzo4: Can all the folk who have used .762 and 5.56 please raise what is left of their right hand !! I have shot 7.62 in a .308 and 5.56 in a .223 and NEVER had a blow up or seen a
  2. I have 223, 243, 308 and a 260 rem, I use the 260 for long range varminting abroad and for target, its a round that is very hard to beat on accuracy and has a fantastic long range performance that well out performs any 308 or 243, it is one of the very few rounds with a launch speed of around 2750Fps and will still be doing 1550 fps at 1000 yards, it is flatter shooting than a 243, and has much less variation in velocities and impact point for varying bullet weights, I use 123 grain Lapua and 139 grain lapua mostly, and both are nearly identical out to 600 yards, one draw back to the 260 is th
  3. Talked to my friend in Brittany tonight, military calibres are still available in France, the law has been tightened up though (Missed that one) you now need extra permissions, though if you already have a military calibre or have it on a UK ticket they will allow it.
  4. As far as I remember you can not re-barrel Mannlichers, but to be honest I wouldn't have the Sako either, as i hear many have very short barrel life, like 1100 rounds and that's your lot, no idea why, maybe some of the other guys can fill us in on that one.
  5. Ive been using Lapua 125 grain FMJ's out of a 308 for target work, its like using a 243 at 600 meters, flat as a pancake and well over 3000fps.
  6. Everyone's saying you cant have military calibres in France, well that isn't true, you can have any calibre you like, but they will limit how many you have, and how much ammunition you have. 18 months ago I was looking at relocating to France so i went into the local cop shop in Brittany, as I had 10 guns on my ticket, with 5.56, 7.62 and 30-06 he said no problem, but you are only allowed 4 military rifles and 2x9mm pistols, when i said can I get the ticket, he went away and called someone, at which point he said 2 days, You wont find service like that in the UK, my friend who l
  7. £35 but you need them fitting, and of course you need a special tool to do the job, which you wont want to pay for, Potters at Tunbridge Wells, Kent have some and can fit them for you, Or after Christmas we should have our Dealers ticket through, then you can send the disassembled bolt handle to us and we will return them by next post. until then email me on a.b@ab-tactical.com and I will try and work out some why of getting them fitted for you, either a visit to the workshops near Maidstone kent or maybe a local gunsmith can do it for you.
  8. I would still send the scope back for an inspection, it may just be you breathing on the scope but it is better to be safe than sorry. One thing I have found with the breathing issue is that if you add a sun shield then the front lens doesn't fog, the reason being that when you breath with the rifle in position to shoot, your breath is exhaled under the scope and tends to rise up across the front of the scope, hence the fogging. It isn't perfect, but it does help to prevent the fogging issue a lot. Another pointer is if you get oil or grease on a scope lens, just use one of those w
  9. Thanks for advice. I have bought a set of flip up scope covers so problem solved. Just release the cover when ready to shoot. Was out today but nothing around i guess i will have to keep trying.
  10. N160 is a dirty powder in a 243 especially if you use a benchrest or cooler primer, I have found the french vectan powders far cleaner and consistent than N160, I have also found that there is a problem getting the unburnt powder deposits out of the 243 barrel, in all my years shooting 243 I have found several nasty chemicals that will take that powder deposit out, but nothing beats decanted Brasso and then filtered, you end up with a clear liquid that takes the crap out of barrels in no time, soak a bit of 4x2 in the clear liquid, then give the barrel a clean, and see the black crap come out,
  11. Oops forgot to say that the CZ bolt extension makes the cycling of the bolt very much faster, you can almost make a aimed shot a second with it, another point is, it stops the CZ knuckle buster, if you use a CZ you will know exactly what I mean, www.ab-tactical.com
  12. Try this, its a CZ Bolt extension, we will have a new CZ drop in safety out beginning of next year as well as a all metal mag well,
  13. The bullet on the right looks like a HORNADY grain FMJ, I use them all the time for 600 meter target work, at 3100FPS they will group sub 0.5MOA in light winds. if you swap for a Lapua 90grain Scenar at 3200Fps they work well all the way out to 1400 yards, and are far more accurate than a 308 at a 1000 Yards, the 243 retains greater energy than a 308 at long ranges, and will also massively over penetrate without dropping a deer, just like the 6.5mm rounds, MY ADVICE IS PULL THEM APART, DITCH THE POWDER AND PRIMER, CHECK THE CASE AND BULLET AND RELOAD THEM IF THEY ARE OK, OTHERWISE JUST BIN TH
