  1. Once his recall is spot on and you have a bond with the dog you will see progress . Ideally you would want the dog retrieving the catch if Possible. After the dog catches it's next rabbit recall the dog with the whistle if that's the method you are using the dog will hopefully bring the rabbit back with it. If so give the rabbit back to the dog this worked wonders for me with my bitch. Work on the recall before anymore hunting though.
  2. I have a 14 month old whippet and while I was training she would retrieve every time now that she's retrieving live game she won't even lift a ball or rabbit dummy she sprints up knows it's not game and will just come back on recall.Try and train the dog to recall with a dog whistle.treats shuld help this. Then when your whippet chases and hopefully catches a bunny recall with whistle the dog will hopefully bring the catch back.

  5. I have a whippet bitch 14 months mostly ferreting started with a few dropped rabbits and holding netted rabbits she's also had a couple that slipped the nets all retrieved live worked long net yesterday for first time chased two rabbits into nets and held. All good but on lamp her catch rate isn't very good runs beam come back once lamp is of and two beeps on dog whistle she has only had two or three rabbits on lamp. At first she was over shooting she now has started to approach a bit slower tryin to anticipate the bunnies run so hopefully get to learn her trade in time

  7. I have a whippet pup now 12 months. she is retrieving rabbits live to hand her catch rate on the lamp isnt very good she still only gets one or two slips a night as still young. if she would lift squatters she would get alot more rabbits. When slipped on a squatter the pup will run down the beam and straight over the bunny then when the bunny gets up and goes the other direction the pup will course but the rabbits are getting to cover as the fields are small.is this something I can teach the pup to lift a squatter or should it come with experience. Can't fault the pup on recall on the lamp or
