i have a boat moored in milford marina which cost 1350 a year (by the way the boat is up for sale) it goes on size mine is 7.3 metres,and the best way to make the boat safe is to do what you think i.e lifejackets.flares,auxilliary engine etc.then call in to your nearest lifeboat station and tell them you are a learner and what you have done and ask for a safety inspection by them its all free they will put you right so good fishing and stay safe ATB TRAPPER.
