ATN aries 410 5 x rifle scope
pestcontrol121 replied to fox_hunter's topic in Night Vision & Thermal
Yes gen 1 will go on a 22LR but why spend £650 on gen 1 when you could get a second/hand gen 2 which would be far better, unless you are buying a second/hand gen 1 and the link you put up was just to show us the unit you are hoping to get, also at that price look at the digital units -
what rifle are you hoping to put the NV on

Grant of Firearms certificate
pestcontrol121 replied to fox_hunter's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
when you phone again make sure fox has been put on your ticket just because the FEO said its ok doesn't mean it will stand up if caught and fox is not on your ticket -

Thats good but has he put fox on your ticket in black and white ? A lot of people think because they have vermin on the ticket they can shoot fox this is not the case, you must state fox as part of your quarry. -

Is that a .22 rimfire you put in for or a .22 hornet ? as you say you shoot the odd fox and would like to know if you got fox on your ticket, i take it its your 1st firearms and its unusual to be granted fox with a .22 rimfire but not a .22 hornet, Don't think i'm having a pop at you just like to know as some people don't know the law and would'nt want anyone getting into a dispute with their FEO over a missunderstanding of whats allowed and whats not, I have been down this road many years ago and i do have fox on my .22 rimfire and know how hard it is to get this,it might be the FEO in Dev -
yukon ranger 5 x 42 advice needed
pestcontrol121 replied to dogvixen01's topic in Night Vision & Thermal
you can put a dimmer switch on the lamp aswell -
Jack there has been a lot of posts about this, the best way i found was to put a 2" to 3" tube over the front of the laser in bad weather conditions, always make sure you clean the lens after use as these marks can be very hard to remove if left.

If its for hunting i prefer the the striker model with a 100w bulb and its much cheaper, the enforcer has no wires going down to a battery and has a LED system but thats it, so at £250 compared to under £100 for a strikers i would stick with the strikers

You are probably thinking of Clive Ward at NVscopes.com, he is the best but can be a bit hard to get hold of, the one on ebay is OK it takes about 12 days to receive Item number: 180660243423

Yes no problem 12v is fine do you need to buy the lead or can you make one yourself.if you have to buy one any idea where to get one from.i have just bought a second hand ranger but there is no lead with it.thanks for all your help. You can go into Maplins and buy the bits you need, take your mains charger with you so you can match the connector up as i think there is three connectors that are very similar. You could go on ebay and buy one of these Item number: 370491544414

Total waste of time putting a 450mw on a gen 1 unit unless you are shooting close range near buildings, they are as good as a 75mw led and thats being generous.

My new night vision project

Its good old Norfolk so very flat, % of my shoot is drivable, around 3000 acres also being so flat its best to shoot off the top of the vehicle for safety Yes all rear windows are blacked out, its just great that the driver can watch everything, i do a fair bit of driving and it can be a bit tedious as to not knowing whats going on, but also good when parked up in a baited area, doing another set up this week for a keeper. -

Maximum on most dedicated scopes is x6 but the Kite i viewed was x6.8 , i did hear of a doubler coming out for the D760 to make it into a x10 but never seen one. I have played about with the yukon doubler which i had a box of, you can just keep screwing these together which i done on a gen2+ spotter, the problem is the more glass you put in front of the Image Intensifiers the more IR light you need, its the same with an add-on, when you look through a monocular you get a great image but as soon as you put the unit behind a day scope you image drops until you add a IR laser or LED.

The tube you are mentioning xr5 is good but a few people have had problems with it, slight bit of light and it dulls down so much you can't see your target, as for the xd4 i can't comment as i've had no 1st hand experience with but have heard it good. The main reason the Longbow comes to light is that most are sold to gamekeepers which are bought by the estate and they are trying to buy the best and don't know that much about NV so the price comes into it, as the Longbow is one of the most expensive they feel it must be the best, i have around a dozen keepers that i have shown the Envis and

Your right Andy, but just don't like seeing people making the same mistakes as i did many years ago, NV cost a lot of money and its nice to buy the once and get it right, nothing worse than spending thousands of pounds and finding you could of done a lot better with your hard earned cash
-
Where are you ?
-
Never heard of a lifetime warranty on night vision, an intensifier tube that can be missed used by the owner Its easy to say lifetime warranty but to many clauses to get out of it, there isn't a lot to a NV unit so all that can go wrong is Tube / Switch gear / Circuit board (some units have) / dry soldering / and if on a dedicated scope parallax issues
