You can not shoot them willy nilly, you have to prove you have tried "ALL" scareing tactic's eg walk them off bird scarer's rocket's and if shooting is proved to be the only way Remember the are "STIL" Classed as Wildfowl so unless you use non-toxic shot (NOT LEAD) or Bullet's you will be at risk of losing both SGC and FAC ONLY TRYING TO HELP there is a lot of abuse with the Canada Goose situation and sooner rather than latter some one is going to be made a example of. If you cherrish your sgc an fac steer clear of shooting them waisting your time and energy telling them mate , the fooki

if farmer wants rid, shoot a couple and let him know you have, dont wait or he may get someone else in to shoot them for him and you wouldnt want that. where i shoot there was alot of canadas and greylag on a pond, i shot a few canadas to keep the farmer happy and the geese were still there in the seaon, i had plenty of days flights with them. keep farmer happy, pick the canadas out and have some fun!

Starting Wildfowling in September - advice please
jclay91 replied to harrycatcat's topic in Wildfowling
i forgot to mention...decoys calls etc i have never used decoys or calls on the foreshore, i have always tried to get under the flightlines. my friend who also shoots the foreshore is the opposite and would never venture out without his duck decoys and various calls, i guess it depends on if you can bothered to carry it all (maybe i am lazy but i usually get as many shots as him, be in the right place at the right time and you will get some good shooting. also... A DOG... i would never go out with my gun onto the foreshore without a good strong dog, the sight of a winged duck floating out i -

hi there, i have done a fair bit of wildfowling in scotland inland and on the foreshore. i am by no means an expert but i would say, 1. know the tide times 2. know the area, study it in daylight a few times before you go out onto any marsh/mudflat 3. warm, waterproof clothing.. waders, good breathable windproof waterproof coat and a decent pair of gloves 4. make sure you use legal cartridges (i use 35gram 5's for duck and 50gram 3's for geese bismuth) 5. get a compass and good map and learn how to use it, it pays when the fog comes in quickly. I am pretty sure i will have missed a f -

Went for a wander around my permission today to see if any ferreting worth doing, ventured into 1 of the many small woods and found a couple of very scrawny pigeons half frozen in the snow. I have seen them suffering before, not been able to find enough food, the rape just isnt tall enough to break through the covering of snow here. Pests or not i respect what i shoot so i wont be taking aim at any pigeons till this hard weather is done!
