  3. I have a BSA Meteor Mark1 that i have given back life to. it was in a sorry state and ive restored it. I have been shooting with it and it is doing really well. except i really need a scope for it, and as it was made in 1959, it has 16mm dovetails. I know they arn't readily available in the UK and I don't really fancy paying £40 to import a new set of rails from America. Just wondering if anyone has any second hand 16mm scope rails they dont use anymore and are willing to let go for some dosh? cheers, adam.
  4. Hi All. Been spending my last 2 weeks restoring a BSA Meteor Mark1 given to me. Last week i finally got it done, new spring, new seals, stock fixed. All was well. But this weekend, i took it down to some land of a friends i have permission to shoot in. It worked brilliantly for the first say 150 pellets. then after, started jamming. It would cock, but the trigger wouldnt release it. you could pull the trigger but it wouldnt do anything. I assumed it was the trigger playing up. so i took the trigger apart, then re-assembled it. I took it back to the feild, and again worked really well f
  5. I have just restored my BSA meteor mark 1. took it to the gunshop yesterday, and its shooting out a pellet at 11.8 ft/lbs which is much much more than i expected But i have now seen that the cuts for my scope rails on the barrel are 16mm , Is there anywhere i can get 16mm scope rails, or will i only be able to shoot with the iron sights? cheers, adam.
  6. Thanks all, cheers for the advice. Have just checked the breech seal, and it broke in my fingers. So i'll need a new one of those This may just may make it clear to everyone how much of a novice i am, but what do you mean by a 'new set'? Also, what is the piston seal? Thanks Phantom! looked at the website and thats excellent, i'll definately be using them! Cheers all, Adam.
  7. Hi all, Posted on here a few days ago about a rifle i got and had no idea what to do with it. Well, the day after i took it to my local air rifle shop and they told me I needed a new spring. But as this is my first rifle, and I didn't know much about them, i figured there was no better time to get a crash course. So, off home i went to take it apart. Well, as you can imagine, i was nervous about taking the spring out, so only got around to that today. Here it is.. Only thing is, the piston and piston head are really grimey. Is there any specific way to clean them? or is

  10. Ive been looking on this forum for a while now, in antisipation of getting my own air rifle. Well the day has come, a friend was giving it away, so i kindly took it off their hands. Only problem being, i dont know anything about air rifles Well, for a start. its a break barrel. .22 cal. And it has 'Trade BSA Marks' inscribed on it. But ive looked on the net, and not found it. So, im guessing thats not what it is? It is pretty banged up, rust all over the action, scratches, dents and scuffs on the stock. But hey, i aint complainin', it was free So, im wondering.. What pel

  22. checkin over the ferrets today. and found one of my jills has got a tic inside her ear. had a go at pulling it out with tweezers. get a hold of it and she starts screaming and riggling and cant get to it. whats the best way about getting it out, as its right inside her ear hole and i dodgy spot to get to? thanks, adam.
  23. im up in dronfield, right near chesterfield. and every farm or place ive asked at has been hit my mixi. dont know if its the same up at that area. adam.
  24. But, the 'intact one' is too young isn't he? and his nicknacks haven't dropped yet so he wouldn't have the urge? Im just asking, im not sure myself. Also, just want to throw in there that the 'intact one' also has scabs on his back.
  25. Ive got 4 ferrets. Two hobs and two jills. One of the hobs is castrated and the other is about 16/17 week old. The two jills are also 16/17 weeks old. They all play fine together and sleep together. But this morning i have been checking them for ticks and stuff. But i have found that the hob kit and one of the jills have both got scabs on their backs. I understand this is probably of them playing too rough. Is there anyway i can stop them from playing so rough? Thanks, Adam.
