    Hi mate,

Thanks for the update on Flynn, i was wandering where he was!! i read all your posts in this section, your certainly getting some great action this year

i'm really glad it was you that took Flynn and that he's getting a chance to do exactly what he was bred for, he's stunning looking Pat and if he does make the grade would be an excellent stud dog. If there's any chance in the near future i'd love to come up and watch him work if that would be possible?

    Cheers Ian

  5. Well done lads good result again keep at it

    atb keano

how comes you had till trench the hole so much;looks like you didnt give the dog time till dig up till the stuff wats [bANNED TEXT] excuse there was a thread on lately about ruining holes?

The first pic is a close up so it makes the hole look bigger look at the second pic of the hole its about a metre long thats normal size hole dog was given enough time very tight spot and given the fact its only 12 month old opened up and it was trying to push on so he trenched in abit so dont try and say thats ruining earths it was cleaned up and backfilled properly, no excuses what would you have done just left the pup to push/dig on knowing it was a tight spot with the possibility of it suffocating go and ruin some other thread

  8. Hello all

my mate had arranged a day out with his gun pack on a local farm been having probs with foxes, so we all meet at his place about 15+ people, then headed off to the spot started hunting about 8ish, hounds did first big patch of winnies and hit on straight away hunted for a while and then started marking so hounds moved on and my mate went with the 2 young pups both 12 month old( 1 was the young dog pup we dug at 8 ft a couple of weeks ago) the young bitch wasnt as keen as the dog so he collared the dog up and away he went left the dog to settle and then he got a mark and dug down broke through to the dog digging trying to push on so he opened up abit and let back in a couple of mins and he was locked opened up to make a bit room removed dog and then dispatched a small vixen this young dog pup did really well, looks like he could make a really good dog, hounds had moved on to a different wood but scent wasnt the best and nothing more about so we called it a day all in all a good morning out happy farmer job done

a couple of pics for yous to see cheers for reading

  9. did your mate not know how deep it was before he put the pup in.we never know every earth but if starting a pup its in a place i know inside out for the pups sake. .theres a time and a place to start pups.you can never guarantee a bolt mate.

my mates well know round here for his terriers/lurchers hes been in the game about 30+ years mate, he knows most earths inside out including that one, what had happened was the fox had dug in to a rabbit pipe and that was a the start of the bank, so it made the dig deeper just below the dig they had dug it a few times over the years at 2-4 ft i know what your saying mate but thats what happened

  10. good day out simpson, had my doubts when you got down to the pup and nothing to be seen after 5 or ten mins it all started to come togetherand the rest is history. glad you turned up [bANNED TEXT] thnx for the help

i know mate hard one for a young pup, but he did his job and well, no problem anytime mate

    Sink or swim mouse.

And how do you know what an earth runs to?

Just because you have dug it at 2 foot in the past doesn't mean you will dig it at 2 foot everytime.

    FTB

Exactly mate, you can only try and find easy ones but doesnt allways happen, it would of been a different matter if it was a quick bolt but thats the sport

  11. Hello all

Got a call from a friend, him and paul fitz off here had took there young pups out for a couple of digs and got a mark at 12pm ish and put a 12 month old dog pup his first proper time ground and they got a mark of 2.6 they just started taking the top off and the shovel snapped so they rang me i was out with the dogs only about 5mins away so i headed over got there about 2pm and the dog was still roughly in the same spot so i started digging nice easy digging sand and soil a few roots got down to the dog at about 8ft in a very tight spot struggling to get right in so removed the dog and tunnelled in as much as possible with it being sand didnt want it to collapse in still not sure if he was on but u have to go with the dog i had a good listen could here something digging on so cleared out and opened up abit and put dog back in on a lead just incase he pushed on and locked on so i cleared it out and opened up a bit more i could see the fox so managed to pull the dog out and dispatched the fox and let the dog pull it out to the hole it was a nice dog fox, for the dogs first time to ground he did well about 4hours to ground not bad, so let the pups have a rag and let the lads do the backfill you have to let them do something :tongue2: as normal i took a few pics but my phone has no flash the pics in the hole were no good and quality not so good but here you are cheers for reading
