  1. cheers extreme hunter its the 2nd valve in 2 months 1st one leaked and was faulty this one seems ok it shoots fine but i know all guns vary consistancy wise according to pellet etc but usually no more than a ten ft per sec from shot to shot mines very eratic jumping up and down massive ammounts .......cheers anyway if it dont settle its going back once again
  2. hi all i have just had my gunpower stealth changed from .22 to .20 calibre they changed buddy bottle valve to suit new calibre which is new 2010 version of anti- tamper regulated valve so even if top hat came loose and unscrewed the power cannot go over 12 ft lb and this is true as i tested it, it shoots fine but is very inconsistant in fps for example jumps from say for instance 523 fps to 600 fps then back down to 5 something therefore trying to zero is almost impossible as when pellet after pellet hits the mark you think yes spot on then all of a sudden velocity goes up and down again makin
  3. i cant get any pics to load its constantly saying sorry your picture files are too big.....
  4. my pics wont load ..sorry my biggest bag was 21 from 11 acre horse field
  5. cheers wurz i cant wait to get out and try in .22 i could shoot well out to 40 yards so should nt be a problem but thats the max anyone should shoot live stuff with a 12 ft lb,er i see comments every day where some people shoot rabbits etc at 70 + yards and pistols for rabbits at 20 to 30 yards i think they,re dreaming i like to see em pull it off with me watching lol.........
  6. hi all , just changed fom .22 to .20 caliber on same gun by having barrel and power changed to suit new caliber. years ago i always zeroed a .22 at 25 yards but then changed to 30 yards less hold over/under etc. at different ranges they say .177 best zeroed at 30 to 35 yards for hunting is this the case for .20 cal too ? as told it has pretty similar flat flight path like .177 but still nice hitting power as .22 as pellets im using 14.3 grains in .20 same weight as my last .22 variety. never used this in between caliber before so not sure how it will work until i get out ........i cant wait.
  7. anyone tried jsb exact pellets ? they supposed to be the dogs ******** and are from same die as air arms diabilo field apparently but cheaper they look a good pellet any one used them like to give a quick review .....cheers all.<IMG id=smid_15 src="http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/thumbs.gif">
  8. cheers all who replied will look into getting it sorted these guns i think are great when working well which is usually years without problems they like marmite you either love or hate them but they are great simple and effective tools when running right and i love em well most of time anyway lol.......
  9. hi all i am having problems with my gunpower stealth .22 i had it around 6 or 7 years without a problem i have used it abused it layed in rain dust and dirt and never a problem untill now:wallbash:.. its started to play up by cocking slide feels tight on moving back and fourth so cleaned it all out silicone greased o rings was ok for 2 outings then it started sticking every shot took it to gunpower at ashford who were very good and quick at servicing they put on new 2010 regulated valve system on air bottle which is tamper proof so power is factory set and cant be changed without taking it bac
  10. cheers phantom thats good to know then,...but short of taking chrony and shooting through the sensors at 30-40 yardsi was wondering...cheers again mate...
  11. air arms field are better in my gun but you get nearly 100 damaged ones in every tin super domes as accurate just lower powered over distance about 10.8 on chrony gun is gunpower stealth and its fussy about what its fed
  12. a gunpower stealth but they only read about 10.8 on chrony
  13. anyone have any idea what foot poundage is left in a pellet between 30 and 40 yards ? and what would be the minimum foot poundage needed to kill a rabbit the rws super domes im using seem to have nothing left at that distance:wallbash:......
  14. hi all im currently using a gunpower stealth .22 pre charged that has massive shot capacity compared to most but im looking to buy a multi shot pre charged ...anyone know of any that also have fairly large capacity as all i seen are from 40 to 90 shots not very good or you forever topping up other thing on a budget at moment can go to about £500 max.....any idea,s please
  15. :thumbs:i just knock on doors and say i noticed some rabbits on your land when passing and wondered if any chance of permission to keep them down with air rifle most will say no or sorry we have someone already but keep it up and eventually one will say yes if your basa or basc insured it,ll help and print off some letters on pc so if noone in post one through out of every hundred knocks you may get one say yes but put yourself in their shoes then you understand why if you had land and someone approaches you asking permission would you say yeah no problem? most would say no and mostly because
  16. hi [bANNED TEXT] i have a gunpower stealth .22 its great gun and a 200 bar charge will give you 450 plus 12 ft lb shots and latest model is tamper proof they retail at around £399 .177 very good and accurate but it tends to be so fast and causes overkill at air rifle ranges .22 is more of a whack and inparts all its energy where its needed i find ....
  17. :thumbs:i like the air arms range i want the new tdr version but need to save a bit more lol
  18. anyone thinking of buying an air rifle but on a budget check out new stoeger x20 online i bought it as a spare backup for when my pre charged is out of air or in for service, i been so impressed with it i used it almost daily recently, its full power around 11.2/11.4 ft lb with rws superpoints or super domes and very accurate it cost £199 and even comes with a stoeger 3-9x40 pa adjustable scope and 1 piece mount as well as fibre optic open sights, and as for the stock its a monte carlo style stock very well finished with checkering. I have done very well so far with rabbits, squirrels, pigeon
  19. cheers anyway mite just try it once or twice or set a real one up in lifelike position theres a good few about at mo mostly young half to 3 quarter grown )
  20. has anyone ever tried decoying rabbits into range for air rifle hunting if so do they work ? i seen some online but look just like [bANNED TEXT] they are plastic and shiny toys i think a realistic one would work if it was non shiny and made of fake fur and non shiny then any rabbit seeing his mate out grazing wouls think its safe to join him .....or thats the plan any info on this would be appreciated..cheers
  21. anyone have any info on getting shooting permission as i tried face to face with landowners letters phone calls same answer everytime sorry got someone that does it sorry.....only way i can see is if i won lotto and offered an attractive yearly fee but i can dream i guess )
  22. i just have a red dot scope mounted laser [bANNED TEXT] push button switch was only around £45 i first zeroed my scope at around 30 yrds on a paper target [bANNED TEXT] black dot drawn on [bANNED TEXT] marker about size of 10p when my pellets were all in the circle each shot i then turned the elevator and windage screws on laser until red dot appeared in centre of my cross hairs looking at same target then there is a screw to lock elevator and windage screws in position although doing this moved dot very slightly so just re tightened other screws till dot was mm perfect in middle of cross hai
  23. cheers mate will bare that in mind may just even stick [bANNED TEXT] .22 only found one pellet that suits my gun and its a pointed of all things but boy does it fly straight r.w.s.superpoint best ever tried long range or short it dont fail and imparts all of its energy on impact and mushrooms up big time had no over kill or pellet travel after impact every shot consistant well worth trying but may not suit all guns as generaly pointeds fly like a corkscrew but not this one not in my stealth 2000 anyway...cheers again
