  2. yeah cheers for that hopefully it will pay off i have one farmers son to meet in morning at 9am so fingers crossed for that its real nice land
  3. been round loads of farms, stables and nurseries yesterday about 100 miles in all knocked on approx 50 doors most was not in so i posted a letter in each one that i did on laptop night before explaining what i do just wait now for some replies, the ones that did answer were all nice but most said they had people who do it but a couple asked for my details for future reference got one possible definate but he was busy so didnt push my luck he took my details and is to call me back soon to arrange and show me where he has big rabbit problem and finally the last farm i tried said come back saturd
  4. cheers mate there is loads where i go u just follow the sound of the beech mast husks dropping and shuffling leaves which gives away their position then get underneath and wait till you spot one through the leaves or the second one came to me as i sat next to one of their favourite trees and waited , was,nt long before one came into view ...good luck hope you get a few
  5. 3 more squizzes yesterday morning its all there seems to be on my shoot not that im complainingits weird though the land i shoot on is on its own not connected to other land or woods but rabbits and squirrels still find their way there all i can think is they come by road but never see em but i never known squirrels to be active at night unless thats when they come lol
  6. pic of badger in the woods with mobile phone with flash there was 3 but 2 ran this one stayed<IMG id=smid_13 src="http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/thumbs.gif" width=25 height=19>its amazing what u see out in the woods
  7. cheers....i have noticed an increase in their numbers this year thought id play a jay recording too i heard them screeching in back ground but none came in to investigate lol good luck yeah
  8. most people boil them then leave them in cooking juice to cool and it turns to jelly the eels them selves are lovely but as for the jelly yuk i find cut into 2 or 3 inch portions pull apart sideways and if you can remove bone with sharp knife if not dont worry lay out on grill pan drizzle wiyh olive oil salt and pepper and grill on medium to hot heat for 5 to 10 mins works well with any fish especially boneless fillets its quick and they tatste great...........
  9. anyone ever shoot many jays this one turned up 20 yards above my head as i just packed rifle away in slip ready for the off i thought no way will i get it back out without being seen but slowly i did he was flitting from branch to branch then he stopped his head not visible cos of leaves so aimed at chest and down he came not bad for a springer i only ever shot in about 20 years of air rifle shooting 6 or 7 they so bloody warey usually see you well before you see them lol
  10. no its not bad at all it does being vinyl have a bit of a shine but had crows jays and magpies with this gun and with them being probably the most wary they never noticed it plus it looks better than the cloth tape in same pattern and with cloth one rain soaks through to gun underneath and after a lot of handling the gun the sticky goo comes through with cloth but not vinyl and when it gets a bit worse for wear looking just peel off and re do it leaves no sticky mess or as the packet says no mar.....hope that helps think mine was advantage timber extra green but do standard advantage more bro
  11. Nice one cheers. I have a wooded permission so would be ideal they really help on target aim points green will be much more visible during daylight , i hope to get green one soon good luck and many big bags
  12. hi all.....anyone no anywhere in uk i can buy a decent green laser the type with windage and elevation turrets so it can be zeroed easily with my scope i no they available but all uk sites i looked on dont do them only the cheap and cheerful bsa and hawke types, only Usa and hong kong sites do but not sure the power of theirs are legal in this country the one i got is red dot bsa type which has been really good but its started creeping off zero with each shot weird really cos im using it on pre charged not a springer it may be the zero locking screw its been wound in and out so much think thre
  13. its just a cheap and cheerfull bsa red laser but used with a scope are brilliant way of range finding and estimating hold over/ under at different ranges it has windage and elevation adjustments then a locking screw to keep it zeroed mine is set same as my scope zero of 30 yards so a 30 yard target the red dot will be in the centre of my scopes cross hair so 40 yard target the dot will be a tad above or is it below at longer ranges well visa versa without looking at gun cant remember lol plus been drinking, anyway you,ll get the idea when you try one and look at objects at different distances
  14. :tongue2:my biggest bag was 21 but in this pic ...sorry for poor quality pic is 16 from november last year all from a horse field in about 2 hours
  15. yeah the permission i was on is 95% woods so loads of squirrels rabbits crows woodies maggys and jays but mostly i shoot squirrels there had approx 85 this year and can always tempt a jay or magpie by setting out a dead rabbit or squirrel belly up in field and lying in wait in woods works every time although this mornings magpie just flew into a tree 20 yards away and could,nt see me through the leaves plus it was less wary than an adult as it was one of this years youngsters
  16. here is two squirrels i also shot this morning with magpie 3 shots 3 kills all head .20 stealth is deadly ...........
  17. no its just realtree cammo tape on a roll the vinyl type looks good when done lasts about a year or two before taking off and re doing leaves no sticky mess on gun i love it i think its around £6 per roll
  18. a magpie from wooded part of my permission...........squirrels to follow having trouble adding pics
  19. finally my gun works it shoots well too [bANNED TEXT] .20 cal this morn 2 squirrels and a magpie all head shots i think im gonna like this new caliber zeroed at 30 yrds pellet after pellet going in same hole and backed up with red laser also zeroed at 30 yrds now at different ranges just press the button and laser tells you where to aim ...cant miss and red dot clearly visible in the shade of the woods during day finally my set up is up and running ..............
  20. I,ve not been lamping at all this year but dug all my stuff out and will be next week what do people think of night vision equipment ? i borrowed one from a mate 2 years ago and found it crap!.. not saying they all are he spent getting on 4 a grand on this as he has more money than sense, but i could barely make out a rabbit at 20 yards and when u do spot em they look miles away even if there 15 to 20 yards out think i,ll stick to good old fasioned lamping plus i dont have thousands of pounds spare either.... let me know what you all think <IMG id=smid_13 src="http://www.thehuntinglife.com/
  21. cheers andy i,ll bare those in mind hopefully i will have good day 2 moro cant wait pre-charged are great and been using my stoeger x20 springer its good accurate and has accounted for loads of quarry but once u take the pre charged route its hard to go back to springers lol
  22. yeah been dealing with geoff i have to say he is ok very helpful its just when it goes off to his engineer they had it a few days several times then said its ready so i collected but getting bored with drive each time its approx 40 miles each way which isnt that far but would be far more happy to do so if when i got it back it was working ok well this was 6th time they had it well over a month this time but its shooting fine just inconsistant although the top hat had,nt been thread locked i noticed and had wound in slightly after each shot therfore the valve stem could,nt go in the correct di
  23. good on ya mate i got loads of squirrels on one of my shoots as its 95% woods i shot hundreds up there over the years got 4 on tues 3rd aug there was squirrels everywhere 2 or 3 in every big beech or oak tree but had new scope to zero on rifle 1st so did,nt get as many as i had hoped but was good none the less i have to say they are probably my favourite quarry ..........anyway good luck and enjoy
  24. cheers phantom i think thats what gonna happen its been back 6 times in as many months for different problems i think they should give me new one for all i spent on it and the back and fourth petrol etc then get it home to find it still is playing up .....lol...........
