  1. I have had this gun around 1 yr and used only a handful of times and its still in as I bought it condition, It was £200 on the dot when I bought but I know they have come down a bit now at certain shops.

It has a Hawke 3-10x44 nite eye illuminated reticle scope on and I will throw in a green laser with adjustment turrets to who ever buys which was £55 alone....

I am selling due to packing in shooting all together and have sold my other guns, scopes, Pumps, and accessories already just kept this one incase I wanted to change my mind but have not so its the last I have and must go to good home.

It shoots brilliantly they are full power and the wood work is really nice with chequering on, It has on the few occasions I used it brought home the bacon but its time to part with it as new hobby has taken over my life and wont be going back to shooting,

I am selling pick up only....will not post I no longer drive so cannot meet halfway its strictly buyer collects only for 1 to 1 sale, the plastic muzzle weight / front open sight was lost as I took off to make way for a silencer but in the end never did get one and mis-laid it at home but cannot find so it could do with a nice silencer on if you have one although they are not overly noisy guns anyway.

Taking into account it is in very good condition, and been looked after and has the scope on and can do a tin of pellets or 2 whatever I can find has original box and booklet and the laser I will throw in like I said to the buyer, and the old tatty fleecy gun slip its in at mo.....

I will be selling for £120 cash no offers and if it does not sell then will keep hold until I find a buyer as its too nice a gun to be left in the waldrobe...

PS would also consider a straight swap for a pair of 8x32 / 8x42 Opticron Discovery wp pc binoculars or similar with these specifications...

    Thanks for viewing, Dean :)

  2. I found this last week metal detecting it was very blackened or should i say brownish/red until i cleaned it up, it was about 8 inches down underneath the pasture turf but it measures 26mm long about 7mm at bottom has letter ''H'' on bottom and top inner dia is only 4.5mm so same size as a .177 pellet ......any idea,s welcome just wondered how old its likely to be or is it fairly modern just never found one with such a small round usually pick up .22's and 303's etc ...

    Cheers Deano.

  3.

No sorry not for sale just a few I knocked up for my own collection they are asda fitness exercise bands you get 3 in a box for £6 yellow = weak Red= medium and blue= strong they are a type of thera band only easier to pull but a youtube vid shows even the red putting out 320 fps so pretty hunting worthy, and they come with that lovely chocolate cookie smell theraband gold has too

Just made up this 2 days ago too based on a slim milbro type cattie its very thick and 25mm but it started off as an old chair arm, the wood is heavy very tightly grained and these pics dont do it justice as in daylight its beautiful ............

  4. Made these 3 last week and they all shoot great, the one with rabbit pic on has been temporary banded and tried but before varnishing so took them off to varnish it will try to get it banded up 2moro, they are all made from old furniture drawer fronts 19mm - 13 layer ply / multiplex as some call it......

They are all just 120mm high and I just drew out some designs made paper templates drew round them onto the wood and jigsawed them out and finished off with various grades of sandpaper and did band grooves with round file, they all turned out pretty well I am well pleased they all shoot straight as a die and very consistantly.

    Thanks for looking, Deano

  5. Im one of these people that will check price find it too expensive so try to make one which wont  work then I will buy one anyway......I did put a tripod mount once on top of old scope mount and had camcorda sitting on top it did work sort of but found I was moving it to face every shot as when zooming in it did'nt have ll wanted pic in shot plus the weight was far too much on an already heavy gadget loaded gun

  6. Got a new pasture/ woodland permission buzzing with bunnies, pigeons, squizzers crows and mags, 2moro will be my first session but when I got permission the landowner said go take a look around and become familiar with the land and boundaries so I did and already decided to set up in a little natural hide a naturally hollow bush next to woodland fence and 25 to 30 yards ( my zero ) to the open mid field warren that had heads popping in and out every min or so  checking me out.

Will keep you posted how I get on

  7. Hi Deano,

To be honest I’ve had Ultras in .177 and .22 and they both did the job on all the vermin species and with deadly accuracy at all ranges mate.

I was using hard leaded Bisley Magnum pellets in my .177 which I found to over penetrate due to not deforming as well as softer leaded pellets until I changed to AA Fields.

With .177 AA Fields the Ultra is a deadly hunting weapon and hasn’t let me down yet. The pellet deforms better and the kinetic energy is imparted well into the vermin at longer ranges.

It doesn’t really matter though what calibre you go for mate as long as you learn your pellets trajectory at the ranges you will be shooting over.

I myself love the .22 calibre as its what I was brought up shooting. I have only just over the past year been using a .177 more for HFT and night time rabbit shooting due to its more forgiving trajectory.

Sorry that I cant be more specific mate as I still shoot both calibres with good results and both have their own pros and cons.

    Si

Cheers mate good advice anyway I just love their small size and light weight and look forward to getting one soon when funds allow

  8. Love the Ultra mate.

My fiancee LJ has the new Italian wooded stocked version in .177 with a HW silencer fitted and its just amazing to shoot.

Light, well balanced and as accuarte as my tuned r10

I just fill hers to 200 bar for her and it gives a good 30 consistent shots in .177 with a very slight power curve.

Hers is single shot as she will be using it mainly for HFT with a bit of static hunting here and there with me. She will also use it for culling the odd squizzer in my garden that keeps chewing and breaking my bird feeders :censored:

Id go with Davys advice buddy as i think its 100% correct

Single shot for HFT or or the odd bit of plinking in the garden with the odd session of static hunting here and there and multishot for serious hunting sessions so you get that quick second shot if there is 2 rabbits side by side or you need to make a second humane shot ect.

    Si

Hi Zini, does the hw100 silencer go straight on the ultra's as I have been thinking about one of those if so bet its wisper quiet ??

Also I do a lot of hunting Rabbits, squirrels and woodies mainly with the odd crow/ magpie thrown in here and there for good measure  what calibre would you recommend out of .177 and .22 my last pre charged I changed from .22 to .20 cal which I loved but not heard of an ultra in this cal ?

    Thanks in advance Deano

  9. Cheers mate, I do keep up to date with current airgun laws etc every now and then as new laws and things can change at any time, but I dont even like to ride with gun in bag slung over my back incase I come off the gun will bend  I now carry it in its case action only and stock in seperate bag I then fold the front tapered section of the bag back on its self so it looks more like a 3 or 4 section fishing rod case and this along with stock in seperate bag are bound onto bike with bungee straps completely protected by padded fleecy cases and then I look like Im off fishing more than shooting along with a small rucksack on so its safe cannot be fired as needs to be in stock to be fired as cocking linkage needs to run along a track in stock with a small plastic roller thats fitted, so if you try to cock without stock the linkage bends at its pivot points barrel breaks but piston is not drawn back as like I say the stock track only allows cocking.

This is good transportation for me as the bike has weight I dont  and it takes 2 mins to put 3 screws back in when I arrive at my permissions and have never had my scope go off zero ever either  ...and yes I always have the 3 screws with me and I double check several times before I pass through front door on my way out and always carry a small tool pack inc allen keys, mini screwdriver and bits and pellets, insurance documents ID card permission in writing papers and my partners number and details for emergency and always have a fully charged mobile as well as a fully charged spare battery for it also and food and drink so I think I pretty much have it covered....and some say Im too organised but I say you can never over organise any trip or day out  Oh and small freezer bags and carriers for rabbits or pigeon breasts I take out in woods save on mess at home and feeds foxes too, a small knife , toilet roll... ah you get the idea as my list goes on and on and thats without the bits inside my saddle bag lol but thats another story and far too much to list .

  10. I was told by a friend that transporting my air rifle in its slip is now illegal unless you in a car ? but with my bike being my only transport now I dont have much choice he said the law came about at same time the recent one about having suitable lock ups or a place to store it where children cant get at it well as for indoors its safely away from my kids and locked away but as for the transporting I think my friend trying to wind me up as I see people walking along the road with airguns in slips etc so long as its in a slip/ gunbag and not loaded...........

If Im wrong or missing something please put me right .....Cheers Deano

  11. I took out my Stoeger x20 this afternoon for a little re-zero session, this did'nt take longer than a few mins as I had scope off to service gun and trigger recently but rear scope mount has roll pin just tapped 3mm low to sit in gun scope rails arrester hole so no creeping during recoil.

With the gun de-gunked internals polished and reassembled with minimum grease etc unlike the factory that had over lubed as usual but now consistant and no puff of smoke when fired  as gun not had that much use but trigger did need attention as was very heavy pull even ajusted to lightest setting but you may of read my post last or earlier this week that took me 6+ hrs to rebuild after a major spring and sear jump out arrrrrgh :cray:but eventually rebuilt and made lighter pull etc it was time to give her a spin at weekend :)

The zero was almost spot on from the last time as scope went back on in pretty much same place other than cigarette papers difference  so a click here and there put it on mm perfect again.

Anyway a quick wander around the woods and these 2 ended up in the bag  the Pigeon neck shot just below head 20 yrds and Squirrel through the head behind eye at approx 25 yrds and 30feet up.......I was pretty happy with that little session but need more pellets as only had 100 or so RWS superpoints left but still went home with 65 ish

  12. I have recently re sprung an old BSA supersport which is currently doing a very consistant 10.31 - 10.37 ft lbs at muzzle.

I wanted to know how much energy it would have left at max distance of 40yrds with a 14.3 grn RWS superpoint .22 pellet ?

I was told about Hawke chairgun pro so thought I would take a look.......

I then downloaded Hawke chairgun pro and tried to understand it and if i did it right its saying at 40 yrds the retained energy would be roughly 4.11 ft lbs if producing 10.31 ft lbs at muzzle ??

Does this sound about right as they say a rabbit skull needs 3 -4 ft lbs of energy to dispatch as long as its placed in the correct brain area ? not that I'll be attempting 40 yarders with this gun but maybe out to my zero of 30 yrds

    Any help much appreciated.......Deano :)

  13. Ten's plenty good enough so long as the shots hit the right spot.

My .20 HW90 shoots best with H and N Baracudas and FTTs. The Baras leave the gun at 9.75 and the FTTs at 11.4. They both do the job equally well so long as I do my bit.

Thats spot on mate its usually down to the person behind the trigger, but we do like to blame our tools now and then but im pretty used to springers so sur it will be fine

  14. I have been given an old BSA supersport by a friend thats been through the wars  its all in working order but needed a new main spring as it was putting out around 8 and a half ft lbs with the old spring.

I ordered a new main spring and put in after degreasing all internals then re assembling, a good few years back I knew a gunsmith quite well and he was always good to me and giving valuable info on re fitting springs pistons etc. I basically followed his advice by applying a fine smear of moly grease to piston itself and same with the spring as he said never pack them like factories do it takes years to burn off and deisels for ever.

He also said when putting back piston just smear piston with grease but leave the piston seal till last just before re inserting and all that need was not grease at all but 1 drop of silicone oil smeared around edge and top just to put a film on it and thats it but before putting it back apply just one more drop to a rag on end of dowel and put a film of this silicone oil in the first 3 inches of the cylinder at the transfer port end which I did then re-asembled all other parts, its now shooting very well but putting out around 10.17 ft lbs consistantly after bedding in with between 50 and 100 pellets like the old gunsmith told me to do to settle all components back in.

I only had one pellet to try and they were 14.5 grain rws superpoints im quite happy with its consistancy but thought new spring would of took it to 11 ish ft lbs with average weight pellets should I now leave well alone ?? I was also told with springers a lighter pellet will give highest ft lb reading where on pre charged its opposite a heavier will be better but 10.17 ft lbs is'nt bad really

  15. hi buddy

good to here you got it sorted!

    what air rifle was it?

    Davy

Hi it is a stoeger x 20 very similar weight and performance to an hw95 weihrauch and the trigger unit comes out in one seperate from the action the same as the weihrauch's but is much more complicated than hw80 / hw95 rekord triggers which I love but it does have a similar auto safety like the hw's too :)

  16. I always go slowly and carefully and draw a quick diagram for reassembly but as I pulled out one of the pins it released a spring which had a mind of its own flying over the room and landing amongst a pile of clothes :wallbash: but luckily I heard it and went over to see it straight away but also as the spring flung out one sction of the sears fell out but not knowing which direction it went back made it very difficult but on reassembly I just kept trying spring all ways but it just was'nt right but did get there in th end and can safely say now if I had to do it again I know exactly where everything goes so well it could be done in minutes rather than hours.

The gun action itself is one I never worked on but taken many springers apart to change main springs and piston seals etc but the gun itself is very straight forward internally but the trigger is all a bit busy looking when first clap eyes on its components  now its all smooth polished very quiet and less grease and excess oils to burn away with use and best of all no spring compression which made a change just push with fingers on rear of cylinder and tap pin out and can almost put pin back by hand other than last bit needs tapping home lightly, and its nicely and consistantly giving around 11.2 ft lb and slightly more with bisley magnums being one of the heaviest pellets to try as usually if they are under everything else will be but the most consistant and accurate in this gun are RWS superdomes and superpoints :)

  17. I decided to take my trigger apart last night and give it all a clean and polish and re oil....................what a nightmare just to save a few bob

I have always had the urge to take things apart even watches from no age through to present only now I pay attention to how it comes apart and lay out in order for reassembly only last night I pulled a pin from trigger only to have springs and components fly over the room this was around half 8 ish and I finally reassembled and tried it out at 2am this morning   it feels much better lighter pull and very well tuned compared o how it was but nearly ended up with me taking the whole lot in bits to local gunshop with tail between my legs :11:
