  1. he got another 5 that day but just kept the one. ill put up a pic of the lure tomorrow
  2. iv caught a few big bass over the 10lb markin a spot only me and some family members know. the week before last it was the brothers turn to catch one that just scrope into double figures at bang on 10lb. think ye will all agree a fine specimen especially caught from a rocky shore line. fish was caught on a floating yazuru plug.
  3. great pic have seen some of your vids and its great to see dog and falcon working together
  4. can a single thread on thl go without morons taking the piss and putting up stupid replys? seems like it cant! a bitch after 4-5 seasons of hard work is not at the end of her working life as the dugs baws1 says. a bitch or dog at this age is olnly at its prime and has a few hard years work ahead of it.
  5. i work both my dogs day and nite with terriers bushing and alot of ferreting dont tend 2 use my whippet as much at nite cause my bitch will go all nite. red bitch 20 months old 24tts saluki/whippet/greyhound/1/8 irish terrier whippet dog 2 1/2 half 22tts cracking dogs there mighty celt,i will be working mine during the day with ferrets and mooching, she has a long way to go yet though lol,3/4 whippet 1/4 bedlington, she has settled in well,cheers......john nice pup sh
  6. i think at 4 years old minumum for a bitch and also a dog. at least by then they are both mature and have enough work done to justify the breeding. i.e. both are proven. for breeding older then 8 years for a bitch and 10 years old for a dog. as i think if the bitch at that stage of her life has had a few litters and worked hard then she has done enough graft and deserves some peace and relaxation for the last few years of her life.
  7. i do both also and think the bigger test for the dog is during the day. it has to use its nose, mark burrow,s and work when the ferrets in ground to get itself in the right position for a bolt and for rabbits then a clean bolted rabbit is a harder test than a lamped one imho
  8. for reasons givin above id go for a coursing bitch. coursing dogs run on rougher ground and dont get as injured as much as track dogs running on a perfect surface,so with using a coursing bitch the pups are less likey to suffer foot injury,s,also will have more stamina and if your using these pups in the field then they will have plenty of speed for what you want best of luck
  9. close lad.shep lol think he might be stil a member on here shephound but does not own the dog anymore. i seen the dog run and it was out of condition but still done excellent. i can only imagine what the dog was like fully fit. think it was catching 20ies on the lamp for shep just shows a dog that cant make it as a fox dog can do other things thats why i think these crosses like collie and other crosses are better than most ahh sure auld jack was very strange sort of a creature but for the cross everyone of them i have seen have been fairly decent brains to burn and fiery as feck
  10. where is the comment saying bullx,s are no good for rabbits??? WHERE YOU SAY BULLX FAIL IS ON RABBITS read it again lad as that is not what i said.

  13. you could purchase any cross for taking fox on the lamp. with any lurcher its not how big they are but how big there heart is!! iv seen 27" dogs stand off and bark and iv seen 20" dogs get stuck in and stay.
  14. a cracking looking lurcher too!! i suppose some dogs dont do fox even the weathon cross but the good thing about this cross where i think bullx fails is that they can make excellent rabbiting dogs!!! you only have to ask scent about that with ol jack,an excellent rabbit dog that didnt like fox
  15. the only thing id add is a clove of garlic. its a natural wormer and keeps the coat shiny. iv also heard old greyhound lads giving there,s a drop a cherry in there grub once a week to keep the coats shiny but have never done it myself during the working season then i add pasta to their food also
  16. some good ideas on here matey http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=150312&st=0
  17. i never said i take awesome pics or my dogs or awesome but thanks
  18. i use a cannon 1000d slr. not to expensive. regards SS
  19. yes i have heard this also.i think its the merle type,s but i have no experience with these types so not sure but i suppose to be on the safe side prob to stay away if you have that type of cross
  20. i didnt say 1ml for a lurcher,i said 1ml for every 25kg in weight so depending on the weight of your lurcher you dose it accordinly. for livestock the dose is given a week intervals for up to 6 weeks depending on what livestock your treating and how badly its affected. usually its given for 6 weeks with sheep. for a dog then 2 treatments is enough. the back of the bottle tells ya nothing about doeses for dogs by the way and it just comes with experience of using it on them and i find 2 treatments to be addaquite. iv never had a flea or tick on mine ever so the dosage i give mine seem to b
