Hi there gents, been sitting in the shadows quietly popping in the section now and again missing shooting a lot so been looking for a new rifle for myself for a while to wander the firlds with the dogs over the summer. Although cant justify spending the money needed for what i wanted at the moment i was still eager to get out again so popped into the local shop for a gander, picked up a nice looking nearly new .177 Gamo gx40 with silencer and bipod for £270 which i thought was a deal, 10 shot so ideal for what i want and felt really comfy in the shoulder so for that price i was happy at least it will get me out and about until funds allow for bigger and better in the future.

anyone had one of these and are they any good ? or did i waste my money?

going to pop a spare hawke 3-9-40 ao scope i have laying around on tonight and start t enjoy myself again.

    cheers all

    BT

Hi Tom,how much of a selection of springers did they have there?

All the times I've been to Screwfix around the corner and I didn't know they stocked guns?

I'll Have to pop in and have a gander.

I’ve not bothered using a cable tie on my black cat  as an indication,as I still need to lift my cover , as the trap doesn’t always trigger , but the bait is gone .haven’t bothered putting one on my two like this , mine are under covers , I just lift and check if still baited and any freebies even taken , doesn’t seem to put them off …. But me and the dogs are in the area constantly so , if that doesn’t discourage them I can’t see me lifting a cover does ,7 kills . Slowed right down now and runs are becoming over grown so maybe got on top of them , still haven’t caught or seen a full grown adult

Ive only got ties on my boxes like this, same as you with the black cat but I have got a telescopic inspection mirror, cheap of EBay does make it a bit easier sometimes as long as the light is right to inspect without lifting box/cover off trap.

    Full size.

Apple, never tried it before. Caught 2 but had 2 traps with bait taken not sprung and 1 set off with no catch. Going back to my bakers fog biscuits

@DIDO.1Ive seen numerous videos on baiting the black cat, when you bait yours do you push the spike into the bait or just rest the bait underneath without piercing it?

What would you say is the perfect size height wise bait to place under trigger, with or without piercing it?

Had loads of success with my BC's over the past few years.

Apple has been my best bait, they can't resist.

@Bosun11Fair play nice catches,I've tried....peanut butter...dog treats...liquorice all sorts....chocolate sauce all with oats in the feeding well..no interest at all.

    Roshield bait box....bang.

  6. All I was getting on my Black Cat is Ants, replaced it with a Roshield bait box and got a kill overnight.

Totally gone off the Black Cat,shame I know for such a well built trap.

I know you'll get ants, slugs etc on your traps but I think the bait well is an attraction for ants. With slugs even if you put a trail of salt they still get in somehow.

So back to the traditional Victor or Roshield for me.

  7. After getting back into catapulting recently, I bought a Nick Hegerty catapult and thought what can I use for my 9.5mm steel ammo so I bought this off eBay for £4.00,its a leather coin pouch,I added a shoelace so I can wear it over my shoulder, ideal I think.

It's just a bit of paracord with a magnet on the end, either make your own or buy them off Etsy for about a fiver.

After reading this,I'm thinking of buying this of eBay.. Only thing I'm wondering is I think I'd be better off with ott ,what this one is...should catapults be shot on their sides rather than upright?
