  1. If you lose the permission to shoot on the land then your FAC will not be renewed,if you decide to join a Target club the FEO may ask you to sell your sporting rifle and buy a target rifle and you would only be allowed to buy target ammmunition, therefore it would be better for yourself if you can gain permission elsewhere, best of luck.
  2. If you can try and shoot the two rifles, then make up your own mind most of the people who shoot out to 1000yds use dedicated rifles and they are expensive. There are a lot of aftermarket custom parts for the Remington and if you decide to go down that road,Jewell trigger,McMillan stock etc the list is endless also a custom rifle builder would probably want to blueprint the Remington action, sometimes it is easier to have a custom rifle built to your own specifications but you can always think about this for the future. In the meantime go ahead and good luck with your choice.
  3. Quite right, tell them to go forth into the Wilderness and multiply.
  4. The 8x56 Schmidt & Bender Hungarian would be quite adequate for your needs if you plan to shoot out to 150yards,if you go the route of a variable scope then you will pay a lot more for it because of the build quality internal components, variable magnification etc, however if you choose the variable you can always use it for shots at longer range. As for buying the Schmidt & Bender in Hungary you would be liable for import tax,and VAT and if anything went wrong with the scope the dealers in this country would class it as a grey import, and you would possibly have to send it back to Hunga
  5. Tried many different types over the years,Lee,RCBS,Lyman, etc but the cases have to be rolled over a lube pad,I now use Lyman Qwik spray case lube saves your fingers being covered in lube and you don,t need a pad, hope this helps.
  6. Loves to Hunt stated it was an Anschutz 520,not a 525,however if you owned a 525 and it was a piece of shit, then I am quite prepared to take your word for it,as I stated the 520 that I owned was quite accurate
  7. Had one many years ago,it was accurate enough and quite well made, the magazine held ten rounds and was single stack, which some people prefer rather than a rotary magazine, used it for quite a number of years before trading it for another semi auto, hope this helps
  8. If you are worried about bullet weight at distance, wind etc, then you can go for a heavier head,75-80grain,the normal barrel twist in a 22-250 is 1-14,1-12,should you wish to shoot 75grain etc,you would have to go to a 1-8 twist or faster, and this would possibly mean fitting a custom barrel good luck with your remmy.
  9. The last time I paid for accompanied stalking was around five years ago I shot two fallow and gave the stalker a fifty pound tip,he was a decent guy,and like everyone else he has to earn a living, however tip your stalker what you can afford most people would start at twenty, and whatever you tip I am sure the stalker will be grateful,be lucky.
  10. A few years ago a writer who worked for :Gun Mart:called Bruce Potts ran some tests on sub sonic ammo but I believe it was in .308 cal,the cases he used could only be loaded with a small quantity of powder, the inside of the case was solid brass and were probably specially made. The british army conducted tests with a moderated Accuracy International using sub sonic ammunition a few years previous and I suspect that it would have been in .308 cal,the reports were that it was good out to 300yards. As NJC110381 said you will have to try and get someone who has experience of loading sub sonic a
  11. The NXS model has side focus parallax adjustment at the turrets, the NF model has parallax adjustment on the front at the objective lens. 3bl so if everything else is the same why is the side focus three hundred pounds more? The NXS model if I remember was manufactured in Japan, and is definitely a better looking scope than the NF model which was made in the USA,there may also be better components internally etc,you would have to take this up with Nightforce, also with the rate of the dollar against the pound they may be quoting you for old

  13. The 75gr head would definitely have an advantage being heavier,I have never shot roe with a .223,I use a 22-250 for them in the past I have used a 55gr head, and if the shot is placed in the engine room or any other vital organ they will definitely go down. regards, 3bl
  14. The 1:12 twist of your barrel is probably to slow to stabilise a 75gr head,it would probably need a 1;10 or a 1;9 twist, however I reckon that you would probably be okay shooting 64gr heads, hope this helps. best of luck, 3bl
  15. There are various bedding compounds on the market, last company that I can remember selling them was the Sportsmans Gun in Devon,if you feel confident enough to try and rebed your barrel, there are also the custom rifle builders, who will charge you a lot of money to pillar bed the barrel the last time I had one done was around 15 months ago, this was done by Border Barrels, and they charged me 300.00. You may think this was a lot of money, but it is a specialist rifle,so if anything went wrong with the bedding job I could always take it back to them and complain.
