Some have you saw the photos of this buck J.D included. Got it measured at the gamefair and it went 129.60, which my heart sank at! Then realised they hadnt deducted for a small cut to the back of the skull, once i pointed this out they remeasured it at 130.60, scraped it! It'll still go in at silver because they'd already signed it off. Have to admit to the measuring system being a bit fake though, all about opinions. Happy days though!

Ive just ordered my copy therefore ive as much right to post on this topic as anyone else Yes, im probably going to repeat what others say and yes there are some that will disagree with me...well, one anyway Its each to their own, we all have opinions and we're all entitled to them. Personally i love reading JD's books, theres not one chapter i havnt enjoyed & by the end of the week i'll hopefully have all the terrier books. I looked at Blucks book because a friend bought it, but personally i felt as though he was just jumping on the book bandwagon....This is an OPINION! Some

Many many many generations apart. The Wapiti x Red is used throughout NZ to increase bodyweights for their carcases. The photo beneath is of 1 red calf and 5 wapiti calves. It gives you an idea of the size difference. When you see a Wapiti Bull running with red hinds it almost looks cruel, theyre a huge great animal, but its no different than putting a belgian blue onto an aberdeen angus cow Ive got some good photos of Wapiti but unfortunately not on the computer, i'll see what i can do though

When the antlers appear to have outriggers (the dropped tines) it often means it has wapiti traits. Most of the biggest stags in the world have wapiti traits in there blood somewhere. Not too long ago a stag was dna tested to have 22% wapiti in it, the last wapiti on that ground was shot in 1914 so it gives you an idea of how long it would take to breed out......a very long time! With regards to peoples opinion on heads being ugly, i completely agree, some are. Though some are not, you CAN get big pretty heads, At the end of the day if you took stags off the hill in Scotland, put them

For those of you that were interested and asked about the previous buck i took off my ground, i took another off recently. Again unable to upload the photo but will gladly send it via e-mail if your keen for a look. Almost a pretty head but a little uneven. Been dried out a week now and weighs 550 grams

This is a photo of a main road in germany. With everything thats said in this country about R.T.A's, why do we ever not look at other countrys ideas and copy them. Are we too proud!! I think this is a fantastic idea...yes you can have pathways and tunnels, but planted up...brilliant!

I think it is...and always will be a touchy subject. When i was at a trophy hunting outfitters in NZ, i went out with some Americans who were there to hunt a red stag with a bow. It is very skilled, theres no doubting that,more so than anyone with a rifle, and when correctly used is a great piece of hunting equipment, theres no doubt about that. i witnessed animals taken with bow as they should be. Just like shooting though i witnessed animals taken not so well. Personally im not a fan, but it obviously has its place. This could turn out to be a very long thread! regards Tom

Id say shes had too many shots the night before No seriously, could well be staggers, especially if shes suffering with her vision and losing her legs a little. If its not too severe they can recover otherwise they'll go and roll over somewhere.

We probably call in 75% of the bucks we shoot with clients. We just use a little cherry call. You can grab one for £10 normally.

I mentioned the other week that ive got a great new piece of ground which im taking clients out on. Took the first animal off it yesterday with a client, will probably only take another 2 of this quality off the ground, then a few representative heads and culls. May scrape a silver. Was 11 1/2 inches tall and heavier than it looks. Regards and it wont upload.....its too big If your keen PM me your e-mail i'll send it Tom
