When the antlers appear to have outriggers (the dropped tines) it often means it has wapiti traits. Most of the biggest stags in the world have wapiti traits in there blood somewhere.
Not too long ago a stag was dna tested to have 22% wapiti in it, the last wapiti on that ground was shot in 1914 so it gives you an idea of how long it would take to breed out......a very long time!
