well i felt i had to walk my Sunday roast off, so went up the golf course only had about hour before dark so hastily got into some cover near the 14th hole, this hole really suffers from the rabbit damage as its only about 30 yards to the wood line where the holes are dam near impossible to ferret, even with a good harsh winter,as the warrens are amongst a dogwood hedgerow (think that's what its called, long red branches like whips lol). anyway didn't have to wait long for the 1st customer, standard shot really, sitting target at 20 yards, clean kill head shot, over the hour had another couple so no

well folks i sat down to the usual sunday roast,tv on bbc1,halcyon river diaries, showed footage of kingfishers catching signal crayfish and returning back to the nest to feed their young, seems its quite common for them to do this if fish stocks are low, well i never, bet they take some swallowing

thats suprized me as i thought if a dog was able to take a deer in the day he would have been able to take a hare. in your opinion/experience what do you think the hare as that the deer doesnt to make him harder to catch. what does this mean then boots ?

I have had and seen a few collie crosses over years with this habit going on the ones i have mentioned you have nothing to worry about as its still a young dog mentally and imho the penny will drop and he will start grabbing old keep trying getting him picking a dummy up you have thrown for him.atb dell that could be the collie/grey x lurcher i had years ago that you are talking about, and exactly as you say,one day the penny dropped and she never looked back,

think i saw that on the tv,didnt the guy run and track it over a long period of time before it was exhausted, then he moved in for the kill with bow&arrow

im really not qualified to say about conformation etc.,but just from what i have read, and that's quite a bit lol,the question really is open to peoples pref,ok so we may all be able to see a badly put together dog,if its obvious, but working dog and show dog, well they are worlds apart really are they not,im not from the ,that dog looks good brigade,to me their ability to do their intended job is far more important, something iv heard that kennel club for example may want to adhere to,but as i say not qualified just throwing in my two pence worth i dont think everyone understand what he is g

i know what your saying, just for the kill may be questionable to most,i would hope anyway, nothing better than watching the dog, your own dog ,on a run, sometimes the end result ie a miss can still be very rewarding if the dog has given its all,but yes being bored does have a roll to play on here at the best of times

spot on mate, just done my own,was really pleased with them till i saw yours if she nearly done send her to me,mine could do with another lick

chill mate, only said you was talking about my dog, seriously though,i agree with your original list, not much more to be said really although it does come across as if you are referring to a pure breed dog and not a cross
-
i respect your own feelings,we all have our own methods, likes and dislikes, but is cruelty really an issue when using a running dog,i dont think it is thats all and sorry but im not one for name calling atvb to you mate

think before you drink, sorry i mean post, knobjockey Some people just don't get it do they, derrr! great pic, just shows how people can jump in with both feet really, typical

99% of the time i lamp alone, suits me,nothing worse than the majority of people i know wanting to ponce a night out just for the sake of them being able to say, lamping, yeah done a bit of that blah blah,so have only seen it a few times,it may well be more common than i thought, and not be on the menu as making any difference to the dog that does this, over a dog that does not, perhaps im just bigging my bitch up needlessly

: Well,..there is nothing new in dog lads, having an argument,...it is part and parcel, of the hunting scene,..always has been,.and always will.... But,.amongst that vast diversity of preference, and personal choice, there is a definite LOYALTY,.and most genuine guys will step in, and defend the right of their fellow hunters, to do what they want... That being said,..whilst I understand fully that ,.in our game,.some poor critter is going to get killed,.(and that is inevitable),...I ABHOAR needless cruelty,.and although my own conscience, is far from clear,...I would always speak

i have had dogs that run fox waiting for a particular moment for a strike for a neck hold first time, they may well have learnt the hard way but still more than capable, but others will strike no matter what or where, taking the sharp, seemingly un-noticed,good fox dogs and clever fox dogs, suppose there is a difference, the particular bitch i refer to was both, as you say fieldcraft surely comes into it as well I think these are the dogs that become special to us and often cannot be replaced, they do that something a little different than most other dogs,I had a bitch that could never be d

i would not entertain needless cruelty,,its just that it seems to be more and more apparent when reading through the different topics that's all,i know the dog lads will argue, and yes most of it is tongue in cheek, yes a bit of banter keeps us all entertained during these hot summer days,of which i cant stand, to f*****g hot for me,but had a mate round last night and he was just browsing through like you do,and this was the first point he made

not saying you haven't seen it your self, just that it is not a regular thing is it?like a lot of scenarios its about opportunity, and when it comes knocking you hope to take full advantage
-
No i ment the odd one's .Those i have seen [bANNED TEXT] they hit woods and dont panic just seem to glide through in leaps and bounds usually leaving the dog standing. must be the same ones iv seen
-
that there is such a big divide between us all?,most of us lurcher lads will argue at the drop of a hat about anything, give your opinion as asked about someone's particular dog and all hell breaks loose,we all know our own dogs are better than anyone else's lol, but take fox shooting for example, the lurcher lads will regularly knock this method of control, some of the shooters, and i have seen this personally frown upon us dog lads in many cases because of our idea of fox control, reading a thread ref hare and deer, someone said about not entertaining the idea of running a dog on a deer and has
