Take it from me mate that ferret in that picture is malting. Julia that picture you posted of your ferret in season IS NOT IN SEASON she has finished season. Can I just ask how long have you been keeping ferrets?.By the way they don't all shed at the same time. I'd tend to agree. If you look closely, it's only the guard hairs that have come off, it's not completely bald. Maybe it is just the guard hair, none of the others have this problem, i didnt say she was completely bald.......................

Yeah thats right, no swelling left now, so i assumed she'd come out of heat???? Will get her checked out and jabbed if needs be.....cheers for all advice....... I've never read so much shite about a ferret in malt.The ferret is malting "getting a new coat". some ferrets will still be on heat no problem But if you want to give the vet your money I'm sure he'll take it. would the other ferrets not be displaying the same if it was that????? I know it sounds a bit shit, but i dont wanna chuck away money for no reason, and like you say the vet will take it regardless.......

no not at all and she's not lost any condition either............. my mrs used to work in a vets and she rekons it looks like a thyroid problem as the ferret looks like a little porker! if the others aint got it then its umlikely to be anything in the cage. Maybe the pic is decieving, she's not a particularly big ferret, i'll get a pic of her full length, the baby hob i've got is pretty much already bigger, i didnt think it would be anything in the cage, as you say she's the only one doing it.............

I used to have the standard kennel and run set up, but decided to convert it into 2 sleep boxes as the sleeping arrangements didnt suit my lurcher, as he's not so keen on bum love and the springer obviously was!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now they have thier own little love pads for some special alone time.......!!!!!!!! Aint got any pics of it before but alot of you will know how it was with a mesh panel on the front to create a run.......... I like a good boning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if you're looking for reliable medical advice about your ferret.. see a vet! if you're looking for an experienced eye to give you suggestions to the problem, causes, or treatment... see a pet forum... they take their ferrets to the vet regularily .. and would have much more information regarding these sorts of problems.. i'd suggest a moulting thing or a possible adrenal problem.. but i dont know much about hair loss in ferrets personally though with the current discussion on this forum about said pet owners.. i dont think you'll be getting their feedback on this one so easily..

The hob i've got is just a baby so i'd imagine too young to do that, plus haven't seen any signs of him ragging her...... she's not a chunky ferret either the fur loss on her chest is very slight, you only really notice it in certain positions???

Can the swelling go but they'll still suffer the side effects of the season??? is it worth getting her jabbed in case????

There's no mites or fleas on her, she seemed to take herself out of heat after a while and there is no swelling now???? she was last years young, her sister has none of the fur loss????

I've got a jill ferret, that has just recently started to go bald on the back of her neck, there was also some fur loss around the chest and armpits, nothing has changed, she is her usual self and the others show no signs of fur loss......... Any ideas on what it could be, there is no redness of the skin underneath???

I feed mine a barf diet when the weather cools down a bit, but have started a bit early this year, i dont recall this before, but their shit has gone hard, one of them is a white colur and the lurcher is passing black, same consistancy though just different colours, any ideas??????????
