Simple answer is mate, dont set kill traps where non target species (especially protected ones) are present. Just like you wouldnt set fox snares where badgers or such like were present. Foxy

Using GPS for mole trap location
Foxy09 replied to andybrock's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
To be honest mate, it's been 9 years since I've used one, and I suspect they've come on a bit since then... I do know that the company I was talking about in the earlier post (they tend to strike suddenly, if you get my drift)rate the system very highly. It also gives you a bit of backup should anyone ask trickey questions, and could, I suppose, be a bit of a sales tool. If someone else, like foxy09 has a good recommendation, I'd accept it because my experience is somewhat out of date....... Ive never used anything like this for trap locating matt, definitely some food for thou -
Using GPS for mole trap location
Foxy09 replied to andybrock's topic in Snaring, Trapping & Pest Control
How exactly does that work??? All you do is mark a waypoint with the gps of the position of your trap you set when you check the traps a few days later the gps will take you back to the exact positon of your trap. It is good especially if you don't want to mark the position with a cane etc (out of site of the public) Sounds really interesting actually, what kind of costs are involved? and how user friendly is it? (bit of a technophobe!) Foxy Foxy The cost of a basic gps would be about £100 but you could get them on ebay a lot cheaper and are as easy to use as a m -

Sorry JBS but i think that would be pointless, dont think any results with these snares will be taken seriously now no matter what they are, turns out if your mate makes them they must be the business!!! If anyone can put me in touch with a supplier of good quality break away snares it would be much appreciated. Foxy when using stops on fox snares i recommend that anyone using 6/ba nuts , buy normal mild steel nuts as they can be squeezed on to the cable wire , or tap them lightly as the inner threads take good grip , if the nuts are hard steel then you will get cracking occuring, if y

Fair enough Foxy, I may have misunderstood parts of your post. I'm still very sceptical that you caught three rabbits, and all three broke-away. I stand by the other points made, especially the fact that you've come on here to tell everyone about your presumption, with little or no visual evidence, BEFORE you had spoken to the supplier. Out of order IMHO. I'm sure Trapworks will continue to thrive without your future business. Why don't you ask JBS (if he's a different person) to supply you with some of his 'lightweight' hoops for snares instead..... I think you may have a

Firstly Matt, i set FIVE snares and caught THREE rabbits as i stated in my post....secondly i dont know where you read these were free samples?? they were not free samples but snares i bought and paid for from the website, would it be possible for me to ask you to read a post properly before giving your now obviously highly misunderstood view. I have been "operating" snares for more than ten years and do so as part of my living which im sure you will agree must be doing so with success with the fact that im still in a job. You have a fair point about the photographs though but as i also said

Those would be the same breakaways that the original designer (Glenn) was saying would be fine, only a few days ago. Don't be too quick to condemn Mr Duckwing... I smell a rat. I know Trapworks and the quality of their products are fine, someone is mischief making....... Hope your not insinuating im making this up here matt? i dont have any reason to slag anyones product off, i like the idea of the break-away snare, i think its a great thing for snaring in general i was only giving feedback on the ones i have used which have undoubtedly failed to do what is says on the tin as they

No mate, pretty average sizes. Thanks for your reply to my Pm regarding them, i did try to pm you again but it sais you have chosen not to be contacted?? Foxy

i don,t know who made them for you son, but there were over 800 rabbits caught in the testing of them, three hundred of these rabbits weighed in between 5 1/2 to six pounds in weight, using 100 snares , checked three times a day so 300 was a good catch before some started to escape , as the links were not being checked by the persons using them , and they were the 3/4 inch links , which i reduced to a half inch link , making them even stronger . therefore another hundred was snared and no escapes . cats can pull them open what they are designed for , also foxes can pull the links open as they

Hi all, well i ordered five break away rabbit snares and five fox ones aswell to finally try these out for myself, was very impressed when seeing one in the flesh for the first time, they looked the business. Set the five rabbit snares out last night on the field edge right in front of the house, there arent a hell of alot of rabbits around this patch but the few that are here use these runs well. Of the five snares set three of them caught and the three of them broke away the last one the rabbit broke out of it as i was approaching. the other two had some fur around the eylets so im pretty ce
